Socialism is just State-sponsored slavery. You don't own what you work for and you are forced to work for others.

F all that "means of production noise". Karl Marx considered a socialist system a necessary early stage precursor on the path to achieve a communist society.

Today's democrats are socialists and they employ Marxist tactics in almost every way. Some of them, like nomdomi, are just a lot more open about what their intentions are with communist slogans, ideas, and policies.

Even prior to the current mayor (who no real NYC Americans voted for) I don't know how or why Citi, Chase, Vanguard, Fidelity, any hedge fund, etc., basically any big bank or Wall Street firm, don't understand how they haven't completely abandoned NYC. This is not 1920, they don't need to be physically in NYC.

Between the city and state taxes and regulations, excessive pay for workers, most workers not working a full shift on the days they commute to the office, etc. it doesn't make much sense other than to have a NYC address, Manhattan in particular. But that does not carry the prestige it used to or at least shouldn't.

I work for a bank HQd in the financial district and have spent a good deal of time in NYC with business owners across 3 of the 5 boroughs and all I can say is there are 2 distinct classes of people in NYC and the ones shouldering the burden of paying for everything are about at their tipping point.

Can we stop calling this guy a socialist?

He's a full-blown communist.

I view those two words as interchangeable. A socialist is just a communist with a velvet glove on their iron fist.

I don't care about Mamdani because he is a Jihadi, but I don't care about what some ultra rich guy thinks either. Most of them want to get away by not paying taxes claiming that they "create jobs". He isn't doing anyone a favor. He can leave if he wants to. Rules are same for everyone.

Same reason why tech companies insist on return to office when almost all tech jobs can be done remotely. I am currently in a remote job myself. A few years ago, I spent a few years at a company, never saw anyone in person ever.

All politics.
