This is a new build going for $1.3 million in Prosper. Is it just me or is that some really strange architecture?

Near 100% chance this is built by "Grand Homes".

That screams the design of that POS builder. They try to cram every architectural tchotchke they can into their builds. It is all to mask the aluminum wiring and cardboard timbers they use to build their wildly overpriced for the quality dog **** homes.

If I were building or buying I wouldn't even build in a neighborhood that has them as a builder.

The listing explosion in some of these communities is likely also driven by Asian (Chinese) families moving out as well as whites.

This happened in Fort Bend which is probably 20 years ahead of these fast-growing Dallas area suburbs. When immigration numbers shifted from primarily Chinese to overwhelmingly Indian, many of the Chinese families with school-aged children moved to Katy or elsewhere.

Man have to think all those Texas Rangers who died to clear out the Indians are rolling over in their shallow graves

We moved to Celina 12 years ago. We are looking to move further north absolutely due to the middle eastern and Indian invasion. I take my kids to the park and more than half the kids have a mom wearing burkas or dots. I don't care if people think it's racist. I want to live in an area where the dominant population shares my cultural values.

every race wants to live near people who share their cultural values, but it's only racist if white people do it.

Bad angle on that picture but it does remind me of Whoville.

Stay west of 820. Is there some meth and weirdness? Sure, but at least I'm used to dealing with poor white people problems.

We started looking at Wellspring in prosper way before we built now. They were the builders there. You're so spot on. lol

They love putting the double wrapped staircase in the entrances. Looks so over the top for that size of house.

Aluminum wiring?!

I couldn't even get my 1960s home insured by many carriers because of the aluminum wiring. I guess they're more tolerant of more recent methods including aluminum but even then, I'm suprised.

Then we should say that. This new found trend of using Asian for Indians makes me insane.

I don't believe this is a trend. The races for census data are White, Black, American Indian/Native American/Native Alaskan, Asian, Native Hawaiin/Pacific Islander. People from India have always been classified as Asian from this standpoint.

Maybe so but common parlance has always been Asian = Oriental and Indian = Indian. We first moved away from Oriental because that became racist.

Well now that we have large populations of Indians, I've gone back to using Oriental since so many are now using Asian for both. Two completely different peoples. Not even the same race.

People are Asian. Inanimate objects are oriental.

I get that but give me better descriptors so that we can distinguish between two entirely different peoples and cultures. Asian for both is not adequate.

Why not?

Go call a Ukrainian a Russian. Canadian an American. Go call an Australian a Brit. Go call an Indian a Pakistani. Go call a Persian an Arab. Go call a Argentinian a Mexican. See what happens

To generalize by a region, or race, is dumb. Geography, Demographics, and more importantly Culture, matter. They define who we are exponentially moreso than ambiguous Geographic continental labels. To neglect to indentify with specifics is to purposely muddy the waters and mislead for the sake of achieving a political goal

The answer is simple. Leave DFW

None of the resident DFWers in this thread seem to like living there

That's patently false.

The area has its problems and this one particular is unique I'll admit. Save for that the same problems everyone has in any big city run by liberals. I live in Richardson and if i'm forced to live adjacent to a bigger metropolis (it's necesssry for my line of work) I can think of no better.

That doesn't mean I'm staying here forever. when my boys get out of high school I'll likely retire and relocate to somewhere in the county or on the coast, but don't dilute yourself into thinking anything is better that's similar in size

It's a pointy box... I'm always amazed at the lack of creativity involved in what looks like a reasonably high price point.

Sometimes those homes can have some amazing interior features, but that is an ugly pointy box
