Big Texas investment: Toyota plans to add a $2 billion assembly line to its San Antonio plant, aiming for operations by 2030.

Jobs and capacity: The project could create 2,000 jobs and boost U.S. production capacity, pending state tax incentive approval.

Good. We need manufacturing back.

None of the "free market capitalist" nonsense of sending everything overseas to save a few bucks (for the C levels). Trump is really smart to bring manuf back in. We have lost our capabilities one by one and will soon be left with nothing.

Yes, we pay more short term but we stay alive LONG TERM. Americans have a problem making that distinction. You know why? Because most of us are forever in debt so are in a short term survival mode.

Next bring back all offshored software development. Let's do it!

I haven't followed what they have done with the Tundra's, but I have a 2014 5.7 Tundra with over 230K miles on it, never an engine issue, knock on wood, but are they not making those anymore? Love that engine, terrible gas mileage, but I would buy one again.

Same by about 30k fewer miles. I'll likely buy a 2017ish soon with low miles and do it all over again. New Toyotas scare me. After 2027, all cars scare me.

For Tundra and Tacoma they only do V6 Turbo or 4 Cyl Turbo now, just so dumb. I got my son a 2020 Tacoma V6 and expect that will last him for a decade or more, certainly long enough for me not to worry about it. I'd gladly get a 5.7 V8 Tundra and may end up buying an older one to replace my F-150 at some point. I'm fine with the turbos but they should continue to offer those old block engines that last forever for those of us that want that. It's just physics in the end, if you put that much compression on an engine and that many devices something is likely to go wrong.

I am running a 2012 Tundra with 255,000 miles. Still original motor and transmission, even the AC is still original and blows cold. It has been trouble free for me so far, even on long road trips and pulling boats and trailers a lot of the time. The only real complaint was over the years the window trim started to fall apart, but then turns out for less than $100 I self-installed a new set of window trim parts and even that looks good now.
I want to run this truck a lot longer, but I have no idea what I'd eventually replace this with. Sure wish I could get a new one that is identical and not with all the complicated BS they put in trucks nowadays.
Wife has a 2011 4 runner in the same scenario. Still runs great. She dreads eventually replacing it.

This can't be. I'm being told regularly the economy is in a free fall. All we need to do is elect a communist to fix it because, you know, communism has a history of fixing things.
