There was another incident last week of a fast food melee at a Tim Horton's in Indiana but this time the customer was a 75 year old woman that died from a heart attack shortly after the incident. Initially there was a big furor as she was an elderly AA woman and her family was speaking out. The full video emerged and the old lady is the one that took it physical and she struck one worker and pulled a chunk of hair out of their head. An employee fights back and ultimately the old lady sits down and dies of a heart attack.

I think this one is going to be debated for a while due to the race element and the question of whether you respond with violence when your attacker is an elderly woman. I simply don't understand how people resort to violence when they don't get their way at a fast food joint. The sooner they replace hourly workers with robots the better off we will be because I don't see people wanting to fight a droid when their fries are cold.

I believe if I were 20 years old working at this place and this old woman laid hands on me I would just walk away. $12 an hour isn't worth getting involved in something like this and the girl that fought the old lady has been doxxed and this will follow her for a long time.

Race is not the issue. The issue is the culture of violence in our society.

You are right. She hit the guy, but it caused no harm. He should have backed away and called for help. Still, he didn't cause her heart attack. It likely resulted from a process that accumulated over years, she is obese, and clearly, she had something that made her bitter and a little crazy. It takes a sad mental state to get so upset that you think you have a right to punch somebody.

If you take a swing at someone, you'd better be ready to get hit back. Age and race are no exceptions to this rule.

Two lives ruined over fast food. Its just not worth it to behave like this.

She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure so probably shouldn't have even been drinking coffee or eating fast food. Certainly shouldn't be swinging at people almost 60 years younger than her.

This isnt an isolated incident. You dont just wake up after 70 years and choose to act like that. Society tolerated this woman's behavior for decades. Shes gone now but society failed to correct her behavior years ago. Its exhausting. Some might even say fatiguing.

Senior citizen AA woman had the heart attack cause she started a fight, got her ass kicked, and realized her "Street Cred" evaporated like a fart in the wind. Hard to claw back from.
"Green" is the new RED.

Not sure I would call this death tragic. I would certainly call it stupid.

Regardless, I'm not fighting an old lady. You walk away from that.

48-hour rule in effect.

It's easy to see that the old lady threw the first punch, but we definitely need more information about how the altercation started in the first place.

Out of curiosity, what was the 'dangerous narrative?' being espoused?

Everyone involved looks to be a minority, so it couldn't have been race.
She started it, so it couldn't have been that the employees attacked her.

If a 75 year old person attacks me, I walk away. But you dont excuse the actions of a person, just because they're 75. They should have called the police and had her arrested. There was lots of stupid to go around, in that video.

Why is there an epidemic of people lashing out and destroying restaurants over fast-food orders? What has broken down in society, where people think this is justified behavior. How is anyone's reaction to completely control of yourself, because you didnt get sugar in your latte, or they forgot ketchup on your burger?

Hold people accountable, and this crap will stop.

She was upset her drive-thru order was incorrect, and came inside to complain.

I am not sure what is to debated with this confrontation…I am not a fighter by nature, I would have just called the police on her, however she started this and that worker had the right to defend themselves, regardless if she is 75 years old…quite frankly we are at a point in society where there is a serious amount of black fatigue and people are simply done with it….

The victims family got a portion of the video and started posting to social media but it was only a clip that started when the shift leader was swinging at grandma.

Use your imagination as to what the narrative put forward was by posting just that portion.

The shift leader was Caucasian.

How difficult is it to respond reasonably to a mistake with your drive thru order? People like react like this are completely unhinged

I've killed at least 3 fast food workers in the past who gave me sweet tea when I clearly asked for unsweet tea.

Wow, I just realized that this was a coffee/donut shop.

This is pretty extreme both ways.

What could have gone so wrong with the order that would make the old lady throw hands? Did she get whole milk instad of soy in her chai latte? Did she only get 11 glazed when she asked for the whole dozen? Did her Bavarian cream get mixed up with a lemon-filled? Did she not get the complementary sack of holes? How crazy is that the pink haired do**** store manager went after an old lady, even after she went down to the ground?

This is a methed up situation.

That is the debate. Yes the old lady started it and the worker was defending herself but you said yourself you would have walked away and called the cops which is a reaction I would have done. The debate to me is when do you just walk away vs defending yourself.

Legally the kid is free to defend herself I think but she is not going to walk away from this unscathed

So far we've had one comment that the employee was a male and now this comment stating the employee was a minority (race, not gender).
You guys have the literal video of the altercation and you STILL can't get the most basic facts straight.
That's scary as hell.

This. I am so "fatigued" by the "find out" side of the equation getting the blame.

If it were me, at my size and age difference, I deflect, walk away, call the cops. That said, I can't fault anyone of any age or stature striking back. You choose violence, you get violence.

Got ya…I honestly don't fault the person for defending themselves at all…I guess it can be debated by race grifters, but in the end, an individual has a right to defend themselves, regardless if the person is 75 years old.

Tim Horton's is a coffee shop with breakfast sandwiches/donuts, not a fast food restaurant. It's closer to Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts than a Whataburger.

Tim Horton was a legendary hockey player who played most notably for Toronto and Buffalo. He started the coffee and donut shop in 1964. 10 years later he was killed while drinking and driving.

Were he still alive, I am most certain that Tim Horton would have laid this woman out cold.

Well eff me, I guess.

I've watched the video, and she looks to be a light-skinned african american.

Not sure why that's 'scary'. It's not like we're watching high-def video content there. And Im not sure how my opinion affected anything.

It's wild to me how common it has become to physically assault food service employees. There are countless videos of it online, so much so that Waffle House Fight Club has become an internet meme.

I can't imagine getting upset over a bad order. Sometimes Whataburger forgets to put mayo on my burger and sometimes I end up with a bag of 4 burgers someone else ordered. I drive off either way and just deal with it knowing in the end it will work out.

But either way, if you put your hands on someone, you should always expect an ass kicking. Good riddance.
