Democrats/leftists have fostered a toxic environment that has reached a point where no one can say or do anything that contradicts their views without public criticism, ridicule, or 'muh feels' discussion.
There are athletes in the past that have introduced or visited with former Democrat Presidents, particularly Clinton and Obama. There was no call for them to explain themselves. Even those of us on the other side of the aisle didn't care. If Lebron wants to buddy up with Obama, fine. His choice.
But anyone that supports someone from "the other party" has to "explain" themself. It's ridiculous.
It's also the same in the entertainment industry. I saw a clip recently from an interview Vince Gill had with 'Rolling Stone Country' and the host (to no surprise) was incredibly disrespectful in the way he pushed Vince to answer why he sang for Georgia Strait at the Kennedy Center honors last year. So because the host doesn't like Trump and that's whose in office right now, no artist should take part in the ceremony to honor a fellow entertainer that's earned the honor. Vince is hardly a MAGA guy, but clearly said he was conservative on some issues and liberal on some issues. He just wanted to be kind. He took no position. The comments were disgusting, basically saying that "Taking no political position = Trump supporter". Nevermind that Vince's wife Amy Grant put out an anti-MAGA song and he's been critical as well. No, that's not enough. It never is with these people. It's easy to see why so many celebrities blindly check the box on saying what the Dems want them to, because this is the kind of toxic culture they're surrounded by. I doubt many of them are true believers, they just give in like a husband with a toxic wife.
This whole extremist attitude of "You must be 100% on board with everything I agree with or you're just as bad as Trump!!" is tiring.
