The obsession with broadcasting their sexuality has always been bizarre. "Hey everyone! I liked to get ****ed in the ass and am proud of it! Yipee!"
Who cares? Live your life. It doesn't need to be broadcast and celebrated.
I think originally the whole 'pride' thing was simply to acknowledge that they exist, like there is no shame in hiding who you are. Of course, it was co-opted by narcissists who insist on making their sexuality their whole personality.
Key and Peele had an excellent skit to emphasize this point (warning: NSFW, language and sexual content)
Just a reminder that the Elmo puppeteer was accused of having sex with underage boys. Cases got tossed due to statute of limitations.
They couldn't use the "Trump exception" and claim there is no statute of limitations on rape, regardless of whether or not you remember when it happened, if it happened, or any details at all?
I just don't get why they need to be uplifted. Why does anyone require this of entities not in your immediate circle? If you rely on the recognition of tv shows and Target to validate you, you have problems.
They define themselves by their sexuality and seek affirmation. And they do have problems.

It's not about validation. It's about offending and attacking those that don't champion their views.
