Could this be a leak of "official recordings" versus someone in the room who clandestinely recorded when they should not have? By some bureaucrat incel whose job it was to save the recordings on the secure drive and respect the responsibility they swore an oath too?

If the leak relates to national security, then I think it's time to teach the authors a lesson and execute them on the spot. At some point, we need to get serious about national security.

I think they are walking a fine line here and as we know SCOTUS rulings are not settled science.

Freedoms of the press was intended for protection of co-conspirators who leak classified information in an attempt to subvert the duly elected POTUS. HTH.

If someone knowingly receives stolen merchandise, they can be punished for it.


The information that the journalists are receiving has been stolen from the US government and the journalists know that it has been stolen.

I understand the First Amendment issue, but as has been shown, it has limits. This should be one of those limits.

First Trump must identify who his real opposition is. Trump keeps siccing his DOJ on Democrats. That has been a waste of time and resources.

From 2015 to today, it is the Establishment Rs who have BY FAR been Trump's most formidable and effective MAIN opposition. They have stymied, blocked, and undermined Trump for the entire 5.5 years he has been in power as POTUS.

There were no Democrats in the Situation Room meetings. Only senior level Rs.

Sort of. The leakers are in big trouble. The journalists are in the clear if they didn't solicit the leak. See NYT V. US.


What if the reporters knew it was illegally obtained but didn't exactly solicit it? Genuinely curious.

Doesn't matter. Once a leak is in their hands, and they didn't solicit it, they are free to do with it what they want. Most tend to sit on it if the leak involves a prospective operation.



Daniel Ellsberg illegally procured the Pentagon Papers…you'd be hard pressed to find many who wouldn't print that story.

The only reason that Ellsberg didn't go to jail over that is because the government committed unethical and illegal acts during the investigation and prosecution. If the government had followed all the rules, Ellsberg would have spent a good period of his life in the federal penitentiary.

calling in Hawg on this for the Madame's thoughts, cause I think it's an interesting question.

Geez that was a long time ago. I know the charges were dismissed for some fruit of the poisonous tree type of evidence collection, IIRC. But a couple of years later, the same Nixon guys who committed the Watergate burglary had also been involved in the Ellsberg case. Nixon used the worst guys possible, LOL.

It's way before my time but anything I have ever watched about it reminds me of Trump 1.0.

DJT having 4 years off to learn the game may turn out to be a YUGE strategic error for the America Haterz.

Had Trump won in 2020, he would likely have been impeached by 2022. Like really impeached. Every single arm of government had been turned against him.

And choosing Biden as a placeholder was miraculously dumb.

Back to this, do you think these cats should be able to publish leaks from the Situation Room? Particularly if they are the only ones who received the leaked material and are angling to score money from it?

First amendment protection for the publication IF they were not complicit in the breach, that is. If they only found out after the fact when they were being given the materials, still can publish it.
