The hubris of politicians doesn't discriminate by party. Rather than being celebrated for serving his country, this should be his eulogy:

The turtle was the ultimate embodiment of sluggishness - a heavy, lumbering creature that moved at a painfully plodding pace making even the shortest distance look like an exhausting ordeal.

Lacking the speed to flee or the teeth to fight, his signature move - folding his wrinkly neck and retracting into his shell -- and so folding up like a cheap lawn chair while hoping the problem went away.

I guess the gravy train is so good that even friends and family won't save him from himself. I feel bad for him but even worse for our country and the way he is letting it down. Term limits are way overdue.

If he doesn't make it back, he'll be replaced with an R, despite the gov being a Dem, thank goodness. If so, perhaps we can get the SAVE Act passed. Beshear might try to run out the clock in replacement though.

Anybody who has been around folks that are 80+ know how quickly things can go downhill, and nobody is immune to it. We've got rules that keep a healthy 29 year old from serving in the Senate, but 84 is totally fine.

Actually his legacy was killing the Garland SC nomination in Obama's final year…unfortunately Garland became AG..but that was huge for the Court.

I know each person is unique, but I look at stuff like this and just shake my head. My dad is in really good shape at 77 and still doing 20-30 hours per week consulting. He's definitely slowed and not near as sharp as he was even 2 years ago. I can't imagine him working or being worth a **** consulting in 2 years, much less 7.

Holy *****.. retire. Do you know how out of touch you must be with the populace at this point in your career? What a waste and the hubris is sickening.

And nevermind that he's had 3(?) public health events live on television in the last couple of years. Dude stroked out on tv and when catatonic on camera.

How in TF is he still in office? He should have been removed.

So, approximately 24 hours after he was rushed to the hopital with no explanation but "he's receiving excellent care", I'm guessing that he's had a stroke. The absense of any further word from his camp is actually pretty revealing.

This is the same kind of garbage the Dems pulled with Feinstein. She had full blown dementia and couldn't remember what she said 5 minutes earlier and was still serving.

The Rs should be better than this but in this case, McConnell and his staff have TDS and will not give up until he croaks.
