Anyone know if this is legit?

If McClain's husband bought $250k in shares of xAI, he actually lost money on the conversion to SpaceX at the current share price.

Depends on the valuation but probably bought xai when it was valued at 113bln. So done pretty well if that's the case.

Ban stock trading for all in Congress. Spouses included. Public service should be service. You immediately solve 2 problems: insider trading and term limits. High capacity individuals will move into the private sector after their service and grifters will have less ways to grift.

I don't think AI is capable of doing stuff like that.

I think terms limits for Congress should be a hard cap of 18 years. If a baby born the year you're elected has reached voting age, and you haven't solved whatever problems you were elected to solve, time to vacate the premises and give someone else a try. Your time is up.

Isn't there a mutual fund that is based on what Congress trades? Seems like it would perform well!

AI could do it if all the information was available. Of course if all the information was available you wouldn't need AI to figure it out. So clearly this is bs

My comment was tongue in cheek. Of course AI can do that; better and faster than any human.

The info is public. Look up the STOCK act.

I don't think the insider trading people really care about (say the wild swings in oil or the market 10 minutes before every recent announcement from the administration) are publicly available.

Thanks and WOW. I just looked at their charts - both are off the charts, pun intended!

Im not talking about realtime analysis. Im talking about taking a massive amount of historical info and analyzing it at the speed of light for patterns and correlation.

Need to also to do the same ban judges and the President, VP, Cabinet and other senior leaders in the executive branch.

It's a short putt if you had account information on the traders, but that is not public information.

I agree with you. Powerful people ban everyone else from stock trading so they can stay serfs while these people themselves get richer. And richer.
At a company I worked at decades ago, we were prohibited claiming insider info (when we had none, being in tech) so I did it anyway. When Congress is corrupt, why can't common people do something that doesn't hurt anyone?

What concerns me the most about the X post is how much and how often Congress considers, discussess, and passes laws on industries it has ZERO understanding of and should not be allowed to regulate.

The public facing elected aren't the problem... its thevstaffers who's taylor on and really run things.
We need term limits on the staffers.

The staffers write all the laws and coordinate the votes. The congresspersons are substantially figurehead personalities. They do make decisions and have the final say but most legislation is assembled by special interest groups suggesting laws and staffers doing the work of writing, promoting, and gathering support for ones that mate more than symbolic.

  • Ban individual stock trades up to and including all family members and friends
  • Force everyone, including staffers and anyone associated with these officials to only invest in managed index funds
  • Yearly financial audits of sed individuals from independent trustees, cut off from another
  • Unpack and expand what is and isn't "material non-public information"

GOP folks seem to do better than Dems in this space at least recently...NANC is up 25% over past year, SPY is 26% and GOP is 37%

This. A lot of the grift would end if this was done while they're in office. It would also encourage them to get out of office instead of sticking around for 40 years becoming multimillionaires.

Include presidents since they're also public servants, and throw in all (Congress, SC, POTUS) their family, etc.

If we really want to clean out the swamp, we need to make sure no one even closely related to a politician can make a dime more than what is on their paycheck.

Don't need a total ban. Ban the trading of stocks that have or are pursuing relationships with the Govt. Disclosure mandatory for companies and politicians.

Restricted list would be huge, but public notification and blackout periods should be set up, all with punishments.

Company A is seeing business for govt defense contracts. As soon as they approach a Govt. official, company A puts themselves on the restricted list. Removal would be 2 days post public announcement of contract declined or accepted. However, if they continue to seek other contracts, the restriction stays.

Politician - Adds company B to restricted list when he or any other govt employee/official is approached by company official/employee.

Another Amen.

Ban trading on INDIVIDUAL stocks. 100%. An ETF on AI or energy stocks or whatever would be fine.

a ban would make things more difficult, but they would still just trade through entrusted proxies who would be exempt from any new law.

He could at least tweet to Congress about it, or maybe just in general, saying he and his family are against making money this way and don't and won't.

Kind of leading by example to pressure others? Something, anything?

No idea. But do something.
If nothing, at least talk about it and raise awareness.
