In their desire to now be pro-union and to try and take those voters from Democrats, the House R's have made unions more powerful with the FCLA and caved on supposed Republican principles....again. We only ever move left in Congress.

Quote:

The U.S. House is still run by Republicans, though it's hard to tell based on recent results. The latest left turn came last week when the House passed the Faster Labor Contracts Act (FLCA), which forces binding arbitration on companies if they don't reach a new collective-bargaining agreement quickly when new labor unions are certified.

The bill received a House vote after seven Republicans signed a discharge petition to override the Speaker's control over the floor. It passed, 230 to 193, with 20 Republicans and all Democrats in favor.

Quote:

The bill shifts the balance of power to labor unions in collective bargaining since they know an arbitrator will step in and dictate a settlement if the parties reach an impasse after 120 days. Arbitrators tend to use industry standards in their judgments, which may not be appropriate for an individual firm. That means less incentive for union chiefs to compromise, and less power for individual workers who will have no say in arbitration.

So, companies will more likely have to pay for the mentally insane to change their sex with this legislation.

Quote:

The model language the AFL-CIO recommends to local chapters says "all health plans offered to bargaining unit members shall cover comprehensive . . . reproductive healthcare services, including contraceptives, abortion services . . . and gender affirming care."

And you had the co-chair of the Pro-Life Caucus cross lines and vote for this. Total Brutus move by Chris Smith.

Quote:

Many businesses have objected to those provisions on religious grounds, and they may wonder why GOP Reps. Chris Smith (N.J.), Riley Moore (W.Va.), Max Miller (Ohio), Derrick Van Orden (Wis.) and others are supporting legislation that could force similar provisions on more companies and workers. Mr. Smith is co-chair of the Congressional pro-life caucus.

Now goes to Senate for vote.

It is a gift to the Democrat Party, because it means more $$$ flowing from the unions to the DNC coffers.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Won't this push more industrial investment to right-to-work states?
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

I'd rather have the unions cuddled up to the GOP than the evil dems.

Yes, it is an incentive... interestingly enough most of the Rs are from the Rust Belt with a few headscratchers.

New York = 5
Ohio = 5
New Jersey = 2
Pennsylvania = 2
West Virginia = 1
Wisconsin = 1
Minnesota = 1

Florida = 2 [Gimenez (FL-28 Florida Keys), Salazar (FL-27 Miami)]
Nebraska = 1 [Bacon (NE-2 Omaha)]

No, it's a stupid move.

But, I think that the unintended consequences will favor Texas in the long run, so not that worried.

Trumps biggest swing from what any other Republican candidate could bring, that won the election, was his McDonald's working, garbage truck driving, construction working blue-collar class that voted for him, who normally votes Democrat. He promised the Longshorman union that he would not automate our ports. That was a compromise on the wrong side of future history, but won short term gains. It's what politicians (even Trump) are forced into doing to push a more important agenda. Or would you have preferred Trump told them all to pound sand, send them to pull the Democrat lever and given this presidency away? Politics is dirty bidness.

How many America First bills have been passed since complete Republican control?
Nothing but disappointments and executive orders.

The Republicans are cowards and unfortunately real ones can't get elected in purple / blue states, thus the term RINO.
