And best of all...

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

Would be better if new spending didn't more than exceed the associated savings.

That's great but what is the trend line for fedgov contractors? You have to know that to get a complete picture.

During the Biden Administration, the Secretary of Ag was walking through the USDA building when he heard weeping and wailing from an office.

He walked in and found a guy at a desk, sobbing away.

He asked the USDA employee, "Friend, what is wrong? What terrible thing has happened to you?"

The employee replied, through tears, "MY FARMER DIED!"

Despite the naysayers that nitpick everything he does, this is good Trump. The federal government is way too big and this is how you put it on a diet.

Having said that, it still needs a lot of cutting, and it needs to be permanent.

It's not like the military only gets paid during wartime. There's always an ongoing cost to field a military.

Yes we fired Americans and then just spend all that money on another war and defense contractors, aka corporate welfare.

Money was wasted either way

Here's a dataset from 2015 to 2026...

Mostly offsets what Biden added 2021 - 2024, but also takes out what was added by Trump. 2017-2020.

Doesn't appear to get us back to sanity levels. The other thing is that we don't know the mix of what was added 2016-2024 to what was subtracted 2025-2026.

Makes a difference.

That's a stunning number. Just goes to show how many government employees are superfluous to the mission of that organization.

This is the functioning of government jobs. If an individual is incompetent, unmotivated, or generally ineffective, they are not dismissed; instead, they are assigned to a trivial task, while a new employee is brought in to take over their previous position.

Trump has only skimmed the bottom layer of the barrel, there are many more.

Anyone else find this a coincidence that this is put out on the same day that people on the right start bashing Trump for his deal with Iran?

I mean, it's not like this is anything new.

Just makes me wonder if it's trying to remind people that yes they hate what Trump did but look over here and something that he did a while back that you liked. Now makes sure to vote republican in the midterms and when asked by pollsters, say positive things to get my numbers up.

Ignoring the false comparison, those employees cost us lots more than their salaries. Many many times more.

Curious - where did this improve the daily lives of Americans? Did it make the world a safer place?

If we are looking to eliminate government jobs, why not reduce the military? Let other countries fight their own wars. No need for our troops to me anywhere except within our own borders. The deal is signed. Iran says tehy aren't going to develop nuclear weapons...and the dust is buried. Bring them home. America first, right?

Or do we need to spend tax payer dollars to eliminate threats that pose a risk to our country? If that is the case, then wouldn't it make sense to also spend money on foreign aid to recognize and mitigate potential global pandemic outbreaks before they become widespread?

There are 352,000 less federal jobs and that did not even put a dent in the Democrat votes in Virginia. No es lo suficientemente bueno.

Don't know if you noticed, but Trump is making the Euros pay their share of NATO, and suggesting that they defend their own countries

And I would agree with you premise about foreign aid if it actually helped America or stopped pandemics

99.9% of it goes to graft and corruption.

It's precisely this kind of willful ignorance that makes taking anyone on the left seriously, impossible.
You know damn well the levels of corruption and outright fraud that has been taking place with federal funds. An attempt to stymie some of that was made and your retort is to play dumb. Very telling.
