Doesn't matter when he just wasted that money, and then some, somewhere else.

Oh, now you're a fiscal conservative. Lets fire back up DOGE, right? No?

**** yeah I am. I'm tired of being taxed to death and seeing all the corruption that has gone on for years and has only increased. Ive worked in local government and have seen all the insane amount of incompetence, inefficiency and waste that happens all. The. Damn. Time.
Spare me the tired "Trump is draining the swamp". Trump IS the swamp, along with 90 percent of congress. The amount of governmental fraud, waste and corruption that goes unchecked is going to be the death of this once great nation.

Bill Cassidy is an idiot and that post verifies it!
He can't even acknowledge what is actually stated in the deal about Iran not having nuclear dust ever and if they attempt to regain it the bombs will start dropping.
He knows that and wants to take shots at DT because Trump outed him and he lost his primary.
Glad the voters in Louisiana have him figured out

I bet you could eliminate 1 million more and never miss a beat.

We could eliminate the entire US postal service and the mail service in this country would actually get better.

OK, add this into the graphic above. Doesn't change the fact that it is a huge diplomatic blunder that will lead to Democrats taking over Congress and enough Republicans turning on Trump to make the remaining Trump time in office unbearable.

No one will care. Inflation and prices will be the main concern for normal Americans.

The left is full blown Marxist now anyway, so nothing matters to them except burning it all down.

Trump laid off so many employees and now they are all on welfare so WE are all paying for them while they sit at home and eat bon-bons on their couch.

Tax returns from 2023 haven't been processed yet and you can't get a person on the phone. Not all of these layoffs are good without actually minimizing the scale of governor a solution to get the work done with less people.

Cuts to federal government at this point are always good 100% of the time. People will figure it out.

You've never been able to speak to the IRS on the phone.

All the layoffs are good.

Problem definitely predated Trump, but it's been made worse. Businesses used to be able to get in contact with various parts of the IRS. Now even the big 4 firms are struggling to resolve issues. The irony is the enforcement / penalty mechanisms of the IRS are largely automated so you keep getting notices and accruing penalties while not being able to actually resolve the issues.

Agree with above that it was difficult to get to a real person for personal taxes before. Businesses were different though.

Been that way with the IRS since they began automating.

Here is some actual data and it seems the devolution in service you speak of is fiction...

Quote:

... the number of customer service representatives shrank by 22% in 2025,...

The GAO found that in the 2025 filing season, the IRS's tax return processing and customer service performance were similar to prior years. IRS did not meet its 13-day goal to process paper returns but took fewer days to do so in 2025 (16) than in 2024 (20). IRS also answered about 9 million phone calls in both years.

So its gotten BETTER under Trump with fewer reps! You know why? Because of the threat of not having a job under Trump if you don't produce!. Kinda like what happens in the private sector!!!

It's not like the military only gets paid during wartime. There's always an ongoing cost to field a military.

And munitions don't have an infinite shelf life...the ability to solidify supply chains and re-evaluate strategies is already underway. The face of the battlefield is rapidly changing and I certainly would not trade our place in this changing landscape with Iran, Russia , or China.

The IRS does a lot more than process paper returns. They've pulled people from other departments temporarily to process returns which has led to other parts of the IRS basically not function.

No data. Just anecdotal experience from accountants I know and what the Big 4 firms are hearing from their internal contacts. Some articles about it from earlier this year too. https://www.govexec.com/workforce/2026/02/irs-tasks-more-staff-without-any-tax-experience-process-tax-returns/411333/

You call some IRS numbers for more specific, niche business taxes and no one answers. Get put on hold and then the system times out and hangs up before you can talk to anyone. People will call every day and nothing changes.

The IRS 100% needs to function better and more people isn't the answer so I don't disagree in that regard. The IRS being so dysfunctional that work can't get done isn't the answer though.

Would be better if new spending didn't more than exceed the associated savings.

Just curious, how many of the laid off federal workers are still getting their severance pay? Just a thought we haven't seen the total reduction in costs?
Look at the orators in our republics; as long as they are poor, both state and people can only praise their uprightness; but once they are fattened on the public funds, they conceive a hatred for justice, plan intrigues against the people and attack the democracy.
