I know if I had a retail business (in particular) in an area when the demographics were turning against me, I would strongly consider shutting it down and moving to a place more to my favor. The bad places won't ever get better so the sooner you make the move the better.

Hmm I see an opportunity here. Just start selling "cage-free bleach" (at 2x the price, outside the cage) to rich customers looking to trade money for moral righteousness. That'll more than make up for the losses due to poor customers' shoplifting.

Same basic model as cage-free eggs, except I guess instead of nourishing natural predators you're nourishing poor people...

One of my cousins had a job as a security guy at Safeway in Garland in the early 80s. On the side, he was a rodeo cowboy who road bulls. But at Safeway, he was issued a set of handcuffs and a license to kick some ass. There was no corporate policy in those days other than stop the thieving, and that dude whipped some ass and cuffed some brothers and sisters. He has so many good stories of takedowns at that place. Those were the good ol days.

i also just noticed that behind the cages there's a bunch of stuff on the ground from a knocked over display case. wonder how that happened.

We have stuff locked up in the Walgreens here in Santa Fe that Ive never seen locked up in Texas. I assume that's due to Native American's and Hispanics because there aren't many blacks here and I don't think the white, older Lesbians are a huge shop lifting threat. But maybe I'm wrong on that?

We just got through a murder trial in Collin County where a defendant and his handlers created a self-defense claim out of thin air because people wouldn't leave him alone to steal others' property at a track meet and someone had to pay dearly for it.

So sadly, it isn't just oppression or status.
