Thanks Rocky, these were good today.

And as an aside, the guy that wrote Calvin and Hobbs was genius.

How would you like to have a Sunday Funnies with nothing but Calvin and Hobbes one day? There is something special that I could add to the thread that would be most interesting to Calvin fans, and there are many here.

And thanks to all of you for the great comments today. If I made your day, you have made mine.

I can't get enough of Calvin and Hobbs! I think what makes it so good is when I read them I cannot decide if I relate more to Calvin, Hobbes, or the Mom and Dad. I read those things and laugh and shake my head.

Rule #1 compliance. Thanks, Annie. You look so cute there.

Rocky what a great set of memes today. The ones with the dogs were the best and Calvin just makes me giggle and sigh. I also relate to him or Hobbes or his parents in different ones. Happy Fathers's Day to all of y'all and especial to doggy daddy Rocky!
Annie , I miss my dad too. He always made me laugh .

Dad with the pocket protector for his pens! Remember that well. When I was about 11, saw a tie clip (you remember those) that was a miniature and working slide rule. Only cost a few bucks and was my Christmas present to him since he taught me how to use one as he was an engineer.

He loved that so much, Mom buried him wearing it when he died 11 years later.

Sorry for derail, rocky. But Father's Day.. My Dad has been dead and gone for over 40 years but I still have his senior picture at A&M beside my bed.

There is not a stronger testament for a good father than that right there. It brought a tear to my eyes. it is a blessing to have that type of father. And it's an objective to try to hit as a father.

This is hardly a derail, and you, my dear, could never derail the Sunday Funnies.

If anyone else has a great dad story, I welcome it here.

Rocky, appreciate your posts today. Always brings a smile.

We had a trifecta in the pool today of a Boston, choc lab, and bernadoodle and it was the best. Only made better by dinner with wife and 16yo son at Rodeo Goat.

Happy Father's Day to all (and those who may just have fur babies, nieces, nephews, or just in general be a good patriarchal figure for others in their lives)!

A Sunday Funnies consisting of all Calvin and Hobbes cartoons? That wouldn't hurt my feelings in the least! Besides, it sounds as if some who frequent the Sunday Funnies are unfamiliar with the strip. Boy, are they in for a treat if you do it!

Btw torrid, the one you posted was a great Calvin and Hobbes too! I'll refrain from putting any more on here in case Rocky decides to do an all star Calvin and Hobbes edition.

My dad was a civil engineer and he kept his slide rule from college. I believe it was wooden. Can't remember exactly. I don't know if my mother still has it. I'll have to see. That picture would've been taken around 67/68. My dad has been gone almost 9 years but he was a good dad as well. I'm glad yours was too.

My grandmother was a math teacher and always pressured me to join the UIL slide rule team at my high school. I couldn't convince her that slide rules had long been replaced by electronic calculators, even for UIL competitions.

We are all products of our times and what we grew up with and learned. I kept my handy-dandy HP-48SX at my side for decades until it crapped the bed a few years ago. I can't use standard calculators, only ones with RPN.

They were of course long ago replaced by Excel and phone apps (edit - and now AI). I guess you can find phone apps with RPN, but I need the tactile feel of calculator buttons.

This is what a UIL slide rule test looked like back in the day.
