My nephew who is applying next year asked me if I know anything about this program. Based upon the university online catalog it appears as part of Mays...

Anyway does anyone have any insight (good or bad) on the particulars of the program, etc? He seems to like how interdisciplinary it is.

He really wants to be an Aggie, which I think is great, however he prefers to major in one of the business disciplines. I feel he would be better served in a business major that he wants at an OU, Arkansas, etc rather econ, communications, etc at A&M.

Would love to hear the opinions of others if I am perhaps being short sided or missing something. I know the Aggie network is great but I feel like a Finance degree from any major institution may set him up better in the long run...

Not to say you can't do well with a degree outside of business in the business world.

Yeah, I can't recommend strongly enough to go to the school that allows you to pursue the degree/career you want. A&M is great, but at its size, it's very easy to get lost in the numbers, especially if you get stuck pursuing a degree that is sub-optimal for achieving the career you want.

My wife and I are '96, my older daughter is '25, and my younger is applying to be '29, but with both we were adamant that they need to make their own decision and the most important part of that decision is that their selection is a fit for the career they want to pursue.

I heard positive reviews of a former colleague of my mum's who studied there. But of course, a lot depends on how you study, how much effort you dedicate, and so on. Even the best university will not help you learn everything and become a good specialist. I spend a lot of time on my studies, but I still sometimes need extra help because I don't have enough time. From time to time, I use https://edubirdie.com/ when I need some extra writing help, and it has never let me down. Such help is good because it saves time, and I can learn something else, or prepare for finals.

UF is also hard to get in. Our son got in Mays (freshman this year) and was denied from UF.

My son didn't get into Mays or Blinn team and did TxTech online from home for a year and was able to transfer into Mays this fall. He was just short of 30 hours with a 3.8. Maybe that would be an option.
