Anyone else have a kid applying to A&M for Fall '26? Not sure what has changed in the last few years since my first child applied, but the waiting game for my second child has been excruciating. Both auto-admit for top 10%, application and associated documents all submitted; but it seems like my first kid found out via email that they were admitted within a matter of days(?). And then the mailed acceptance came later. Second kid has been waiting close to two weeks to find out after going through the same process.

Are they mailing all acceptance letters now? Or they're just so backed up that they haven't gotten to our application yet? Obviously, I can reach out to admissions directly, but it's more fun to post it here...

My kids are applying for fall '26. They used Common App, and apparently there was some delay in getting the applications to A&M. This year those who used Apply Texas had a faster turn around.

My son had his status change online to be accepted but it took a while to get the stuff in the mail. Also had the separate application for Engineering and didn't find out about that until later. I believe the first status changes happened a week or two into September.

If they are Top 10% though and not Engineering it's automatic.

The first set of decisions for the past few years have come out during the third week of September. I don't expect it will be any different this year.

Yep...I realized last night that my first kid didn't submit until sometime in September; which would be the reason we got a faster admissions announcement. Second kid will just need to be more patient...or as much as a senior can be patient. Thanks for the replies!

This is good information to know. My daughter started the process through the Common App on Aug 1. It took a few weeks to finish, and she finally submitted last week, I think on Tuesday.

TAMU did not send her a Net ID when she first submitted, so part of the delay was getting a response from them. She finally got it and liked her STARS (or whatever it's called) online transcript.

We'll be looking for the middle of September now.

She's auto-admit, so it's just a formality at this point, hopefully.

Yes, which is why I am so adamant that it doesn't matter if you complete your application on August 1st or soon after. Take your time, and make sure you submit a solid application.

Honestly, it is ridiculous that TAMU still uses Rolling Admissions for a school of its size and selectivity. They are the only school in the US that hasn't adopted an Early Action period, which, if they did that, would eliminate all the anxiety they create with the opening of their application.

I was speaking with a potential client from Dallas earlier this week, and they're still waiting for their high school to finalize their transcripts. The counselor mentioned that they would be done in a few weeks. So are they immediately at a disadvantage when they apply? Most likely not, but all the parents are up in arms about it.

Can you describe the second application for engineering more?

Just want to double check for my son.

He's referencing that with engineering students, you may be admitted into the university, but the engineering decision comes later. Once you submit your application, you do not have to submit additional materials to be considered for engineering.

So now we get an email that Apply Texas had some sort of glitch, so my kid had to reenter all their activities/volunteer info. Just a heads up to check your account and/or email even if you think you completed everything.

Common App is infinitely better. I stopped using Apply Texas when A&M adopted the Common App.

Even though they're not required, we sent SAT scores to TAMU in mid-August. They're still not reflected in AIS. Vandy and t.u. have received them and noted them in their respective portals. But not A&M.

Mine is an auto-admit but we figure Engineering would want to see them in their separate holistic review.

FYI. My son just checked his portal and heard from A&M (business - admitted)

Congratulations to your son!

I was just coming here to post the same about my daughter. She checked the portal list night and her notification of acceptance was there.

She didnt get an email like we thought she would. That may come later, who knows.

Dodger and Leander, did you son/daughter go test optional or submit?

Mine was an auto admit because she's top 10%. We sent scores, but they weren't received until two days after her admission notice. (It took 3 weeks for them to be posted after we ordered them online.)

We submitted them because of engineering's holistic review. Her score is very high. So though the party line is that SAT/ACT scores don't hurt or help, we wanted them on record.

My son is a borderline case. I'm betting on rejection at this point. I don't know how it works differently now with regard to differential admissions requirements by college/major, but his chosen KINE major being in the College of Education seems like it could be a positive.

A wave of tu admits came out yesterday. My daughter says tons (or all, not sure) other applicants received Deferral status. I guess they keep a bullpen rather than rejecting at this moment.

Does A&M defer a lot or send rejections at this point in time, or do they just reject the rejects in March?

My daughter received a notification of being waitlisted today. We're a bit broken hearted about it as we really thought she had the grades and SAT to make it. Anyone know how likely it is to get accepted off of that? She's applying to College of Life Sciences or the College of Kinesiology. I guess TEAM Blinn may an option but she's feeling bad about that and the fear is if she did that that she wouldn't be able to get into those Colleges in year two and would have to chase a major she didn't really want.

Any advice or experience appreciated!

If she 100% wants to be an Aggie she should choose Blinn TEAM. They add students first come first served and daily life is like being a regular student. Waitlist is not as sure of a shot.

I cannot speak to keeping the major, I will defer to someone more experienced.

This is true.....if she receives a request to choose between Blinn Team and Waitlist, then she should choose Blinn Team option and will get a confirmation within a few weeks of formally choosing this option.

Blinn Team is a great option as you are an A&M student and the only thing different from ful admits is that she will have to take 2 classes at Blinn for a few semesters.

Send me a DM if you have any specific questions.

What are her career goals? I'm guessing some post-graduate degree in the medical field if she's considering the life sciences or kinesiology.

Transferring into those majors won't be too bad, especially Kinesiology. A lot of students are seen exiting those hard sciences in the first few semesters because they can't cut it beyond the Gen Bio/Chem.

Overall, stay on the straight and narrow with those grades and she will probably find herself in the major of her choice after 2-3 semesters.

Thanks all. She wants to become a Physicians Assistant so yes there will be post grad. She's got a mindset that she doesn't want to do Blinn Team and is only checking Waitlist and I'm trying to talk her out of that. I think she may have already submitted Waitlist only so I'm hoping we can still change it. I guess Waitlist is a low probability?

So stressful to see your kids missing out on a door being fully open. She is in an insanely competitive HS and just missed top 10% by a few students, is an amazing leader, and is an All-State French Horn player with a lot of great extra curricular experience and success. Just can't believe that isn't enough these days.

there is an online contact point that you can reach out to and ask them to change the selection to Blinn Team. The issue with Waitlist is that you are not guaranteed admission and if you get it, you will be VERY limited in the majors you can pick from.

Blinn Team is a really good option. What is her concern? She is an A&M student.....she takes classes at A&M.....only restriction is that she cannot be an A&M athlete. It is really a no-brainer decision if she really wants to be an Aggie.

The information posted there by Christi is great about the mechanics of submitting your application and what to expect afterwards. However, that's not going to help you in the years leading up to your application submission.

I believe with this person's daughter, something was off by a small margin to push her out of auto-admit status, which either has to do with her college resume (something lacking) or how she packaged the information.
