My son is applying for an NROTC scholarship. He needs to put down 5 schools he is applying to. We have been debating about Galveston. A&M is his #1 choice. As I recall from our campus visits there was something like Blinn Team, but for Galveston. Is there any point is applying to Galveston if he will be offered Galveston by A&M College Station?

He is applying to Arts and Sciences for Meterology and the engineering school. If he applies to Galveston it will be for engineering.

My daughter applied to a&m and Galveston. 2 different "check marks" went to Galveston for a semester, and covid hit the spring and switched seamlessly to a&m in the fall
Tamug was easy to transfer into. It's the same school. Her boyfriend was at tamug and frogged into the Corps at main campus the same time.
Not sure if that helps but that is what they did in 2019

Make sure your son selects Galveston as an option on the A&M application. If he doesn't, it will not be considered.

You can apply separately, as well.

Our youngest daughter is attending Galveston in the fall. She wants to be in CS. She declared Maritime Business and plans to go either Business Management or Sports Management. Her older brother graduated from Galveston with a degree in marine biology. He had a wonderful experience.

If you have more questions feel free to reach out.

My son had a great experience at Galveston and was in the Corps for Marine Transportation. They have a small group of NROTC students there and a larger group that are SSMP (another great program). You can obviously transfer to CS simply by changing majors (it's not an actual transfer since it is actually part of CS). Galveston has fewer distractions but also much less to do, you do get great tickets for football games. The Corps there is also completely different than CS for both good and bad. You have almost no one who is D&C in Galveston and it's more of a professional training organization while the Corps at A&M is a leadership development organization.

I'll second Galveston as an option. My son graduated with Marine Engineering there and is now in A&M grad school for engineering.

Thank you for the responses. My daughter announced she will be applying for Marine bilogy at Galveston too. I might have a couple of beach Ags.
