Seems like O&G is the way to go. I chose more of a science route and the uptrend isn't as great.

15% raise at a Major sounds a bit extreme from what I've heard but good for you if that's the case.

Vette, are you working with a PE firm? Or a Big 4 type consultant group? Do you mind sharing what industry you consult in?

I'm a contractor. None of that includes extra perks like fuel cards, bonus (when it's there), etc.

I also, due to age and experience at graduation, started out quite a bit higher than most everybody else I graduated with. I want to say that there were only 2 or 3 people that had higher starting salaries and benefits.

Biggest raise I ever got with a single company was 9%. Biggest salary jump I got by changing jobs was 19%. Biggest bonus was 48% of my annual salary.

My last move was pretty much a sideways move where salary is concerned, but I went from sleeping in hotels and eating fast food every night and seeing my kids on weekends (really only for 1.5 days at that) to sleeping in my own bed every night and being there as father. I figure that made up for not getting much of an increase when I changed companies, and taking it in the shorts on the insurance front. No complaints on my end anyway.
