My company is currently in the process of hiring a Financial Analyst in the DFW metroplex. We are in the Oil & Gas Mineral space.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Maintain, update, or build Company financial models
  • Manage the preparation of annual and quarterly updates to the annual operating plan/budget
  • Analyze, prepare, and maintain a broad dataset of inputs for financial models used to support acquisitions, forecasting, and strategic initiatives
  • Monitor industry trends and suggest business strategies to take advantage of trends
  • Explain cash flow variances to annual plan on a quarterly basis
  • Perform lookback analysis on investment portfolio, identify and quantify factors leading to variances from original forecasts
  • Identify acquisition targets for the Engineering Department based upon future cash flow estimates
  • Calculate and monitor key performance indicators for the company
  • Prepare and give presentations to Catapult and NACCO Management
  • Execute or assist with other special projects or duties, as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, with an overall high proficiency in computer systems. Programming experience (such as R, Python, etc) and experience with Statistical Analysis is a plus.
  • Advanced modeling and simulation experience, such as Monte Carlo, multivariate analysis, and generative AI or machine learning, is highly desired.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to convey complex financial models and analysis in simple terms.
  • Ability to visualize financial analysis using Excel or a Business Intelligence software such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Track record of successful deal evaluation and involvement in investment decisions.
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas land, drilling, completions, and production operations, sufficient to interpret public data and company reports for forecast scheduling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle large volumes of data and find actionable trends "see the forest and the trees."
  • Familiar with querying/navigating relational databases, report building, and trouble shooting.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience researching accounting transactions.
  • Must have the ability to handle confidential and sensitive material.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, adapt to changing priorities, and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum four-year degree in business, accounting, computer science, or similar fields
  • Advanced degrees or certifications such as Master of Business Administration or CFA is a plus
  • Minimum five years applicable experience in investment banking, financial audit, business consulting, mergers and acquisitions, business or financial analysis, or similar professional experience
  • Experience working in the oil and gas industry or with energy-based clients is a plus
