I've heard from one lawyer who said wrongful termination cases in Texas are usually only considered if there was discrimination involved.

Then I would try to get a tan this weekend.

In all seriousness, this is really ****ty and I'm sorry it happened to you. Not sure you did anything wrong, but I guess the only alternative would have been to keep your head down and come up with an exit strategy ASAP as that company is a big mess.

I'm not in the tech world, but I hope you are able to land on your feet quickly. Good luck!

I had a similar experience in 2015. I had been stuck in horrible jobs for two years and then interviewed with a sugar company. It was a sugar beet refinery up in Montana. The factory manager seemed to really like me and my experience in the Army and the coal mining industry. He really talked up the job, nothing to blow me away, but he made it out to be a very solid long term opportunity.

So I accepted the job and the offer letter showed a different factory manager from the one I interviewed with. The job turned out to be a lot more of a low level clerical position than I was led to believe. I was stuck there for almost 3 years and it sucked. Treated like garbage. Blamed for all sorts of things whether I was even involved or not. The only real positive was the 401k program there. I was smart to put 10% into that.

This seems appropriate to cross reference.

Hired, move and lay off quickly.

zooguy96, I am curious how you got out of teaching. I posted the thread about the MLS Degree Tracks offered at the law school and have gotten zero hits so far.

10 years in, Chemistry/Physics teacher. unfortunately I majored in History...

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Unusual actually. Was teaching HS. Got recruited by my wife's firm (environmental consulting firm). Worked there for 7 months. Resigned (boss was a micro-manager). Went back to the same school, but had to teach middle school. Was worse than teaching high school.

Just started networking, talking to people at church, etc. Quit teaching middle school, and went into an assistant manager program with a large retail store. Didn't expect to do it long-term; ended up doing it only two months. Kept on applying, but was much more effective by tailoring my resume to each position.

Eventually got a staff position at a major university, where my teaching background was extremely helpful. Extremely flexible schedule, which allows me to work on my side hustle to fund a food trailer.

Talking to people, networking, tailoring your resume.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.
