The pass was caught. And even thought the ball was released before it crossed the line, the actual penalty didn't occur until the lineman touched it. And I've never seen grounding on a completed pass.

It was. That's what illegal touching means. But the fact that he caught the pass is what avoided the safety, I think.

If he drops it, it's illegal touching AND grounding from the end zone. All I can figure out.

So you're saying if the O-lineman had dropped the pass, it would have been grounding. I could see that. I could also see a different crew calling it grounding.
