….only problem is, Trump had an aggressively pro-Sanders tweet a few hours ago

I think "the media" hates Deion for often talking to them the way Trump does CNN reporters … fans in general think father and son are both showboat blowhards …. Trump is pro-Deion because of their shared views on "the media"…and woke-Twitter is happy to jump into this as "racism"

So in the end it's an unsolvable circular-reference in an excel formula that crashes the entire model

I'm all for calling out racism when it's there, but…Cam Ward went No. 1

I don't think it's that shocking. If you think a guy is a long-term solution at QB, you take him in the 1st round. If you don't think he's a long-term solution, there are plenty of impact players that you can get in the 2nd and 3rd rounds rather than wasting the pick on a guy that you don't have confidence in. You can aim for QBs with question marks in the 4th+ rounds. Obviously there are QBs that get taken in the 2nd/3rd rounds, but the point stands.

You think of who needed QBs badly or maybe a little

Badly:
Titans Took ward
Giants took dart
Saints took the Louisville kid
Browns took Dillion Gabriel
Steelers

Kind of:
Seahawks took Milroe
Jets
Raiders

Maybe the Rams? Stafford is getting old.

The raiders seems to be trading a lot. Maybe trying to stockpile picks for next year with a better QB class and Geno can be a stop gap. Jets have Justin fields so they could be a landing spot. Steelers are flirting with Aaron Rodgers apparently.

I don't think most teams would even take him to be a backup because of the circus around him.

Deion really did a disservice to him by not letting him go on his own. He's coached him since high school.

It is pretty telling that it seems no one from his past teams are saying anything on social media. At least from what I've seen. He must be a completely **** teammate.

Of course he is a bad teammate. He complained about his defense and his offensive line, throwing them under the bus often. And what do you think practice was like playing with the boss' kid that can do no wrong?

I think a big part of it is teams don't think he's very good. Average arm strength with average athleticism often doesn't equate to NFL starter.

When Deion came to Colorado, he basically dismissed they players he had, telling the kids there he was "bringing his own luggage". Took away scholarships, etc.

All the talk about a "winning culture" is just that, a bunch of talk. He's like the PeeWee coach who favors his kids, and the NFL is not about to put up with that.

The only owner who tolerates drama like that is Crazy Jerry, and Jerry wants the drama to be about *him*, not a rookie QB,

It doesn't matter who went 1, it's a baseless argument. What isn't a baseless argument is how big a risk this dude is in the locker room and on the field.

Oh you poor baby
Stephen A is pissed because Stephen A's network has been made to look like ass, overhyping Prime's kid to the point of ridiculousness and now their self-appointed "guru" has a henhouse worth of egg on his face

The incentive to get it right at QB is so high for a team that they would happily overlook a lot of red flags if they thought they could make it work.
How many teams have done that before? Plenty.

I feel like the whole situation is just snowballing too. Who wants a giant headache caused by a fourth round pick? In a way, it's almost getting easier to keep passing on him. Someone will take him today, but who knows where.

Kid is the epitome of "born on third, thinks he hit a triple".

Heard another good point on why it's hard for teams to pull the trigger on sanders. NFL evaluators usually get with college coaches in private snd they'll give their unvarnished opinions on their players and what they were like day in and day out. But since his dad is his coach, they can't get that. Pretty big missing data point.

I don't know….. I mean there are multiple coaches at Colorado. Could have easily gotten with the offensive coordinator / qb coach.

You don't think those guys know their job would be in jeopardy if it got out that they said anything about Shadeur that Deion didn't approve of?

First, any coach/scout that wants to be in the nfl for long won't be disclosing what people said. Second, unless they are just part of sanders crew and following him wherever he goes they need to also look out for themselves and their own future as coaches.

You're kinda making my point. If they're looking out for themselves, they'll balance the upside of talking about Shadeur behind Deion's back (virtually none) with the potential downside (getting fired). Seems an easy calculation.

And you think people don't run their mouths in the NFL? Every year, all kinds of stuff gets leaked that's supposed to be confidential.

If you're being honest there is absolutely downside with not telling scouts/nfl teams the truth about players….

and another thing...Sanders is 23 years old

if he was such a great prospect...why didn't he declare early for the draft?

like almost all the great ones do nowadays

The thing being lost in this, I think, and that people are ACTUALLY mad about, is this isn't "racism" - clearly, the NFL is predominantly black and they employ guys alleged of sexual assault and domestic abuse often.

What they're mad about is it is an indictment of what they perceive as "black culture" - that you should be able to act as brash, confident, and in-your-face as you want with no repercussions and without anyone judging you, despite whether it's earned or not.

They view humility as a negative and weak trait and they think "yt" people just can't handle a strong, loud black man. But in reality, a ton of teams would deal with that IF the talent level matches. Just like any other job in life, if a person is good enough employers will overlook A LOT for results. Exhibit A - his own father.

Teams have decided the attitude and culture he would bring is not outweighed by the talent level. Simple as that.

same thing with Ewers

for all the hype he got at t.u....it was telling that he went back for his fourth year

and of course he hasn't been drafted yet either

Not really. People understand the position they're in. I mean, that seems to be the literal situation going on right now. And no one is critical of them for not risking their careers.

And short of absolutely dogging him, teams can never really know if they're getting the full story. So, it's still a concern even if guys are honest.

What sucks is the only narrative that will be talked about on Monday is the racial component of this. Did the draft happen this weekend? Nope. The only thing that happened was the owners were all black haters….

If you seek it out online or the algorithms find it for you, you may find this. But I highly doubt racism will be the big story of the draft.
