All that really matters defensively anymore at the college and NFL level is what you do in the redzone. Outside of the most elite units, modern offensive schemes and rules make moving the ball between the 20s just ridiculously easy. Turnovers and stops in the redzone are what decide most games.
I kinda don't like that it's made the sport a lot more generic and predictable (similar to how almost all NBA games are decided in the final 5 minutes and watching anything else feels like a waste of time) but it does make watching the important parts of every game easy.
