The steam tunnel fiber that got detroyed, I finally got a picture from an ATT guy I know.

Figured some over here would like to know what it looks like when a steam line melts a fiber bundle.

wow.

i wonder if someone thought about that risk when laying communication cables in the same trench as the steam pipes.

This happens everywhere, there are fiber lines run through steam tunnels all over this country.

Except district heating use is probably an inverse of fiber use and many of those tunnels are abandoned, as opposed to A&M's steam pipes which are still in use.

Repairs are ongoing and scheduled to be completed tomorrow. That's over 1600 fiber lines repaired in 5 days. Not too shabby.
