Victoria 3 drops today. I'm definitely going to give it a shot, but I suspect this is one that wont be good until later patches, and possibly additional DLC.
I've got it added to my wishlist. Verrrry interested since you can play as the First Republic (ie Texas).JJxvi said:

EU5 is officially announced.
According to some stuff I've read, EU5 will allow players to mostly automate a lot of functions, but I expect they'll still be super complicated games.Captain Winky said:
I have never played these games before, but how difficult do you think the new one will be to learn? I don't play games consistently, so I tend to forget all the nuances of a game and give up on them. I like strategy games, but when you need to remember 40 steps and upgrades, I give up pretty quickly.
Edit: after rereading the title, my question seems pretty silly asking about a grand strategy game. Just curious if there are different modes available that aren't as immersive.

I actually feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. I have Crusader Kings 2, Hearts of Iron 3, and Europa Universalis 3 as well and haven't yet committed to them or played them much at all. I love the concept of the Grand strategy game but my problem is I don't have the time to invest in them any more.

Anyone jump into EU5 yet? First reviews are looking pretty favorable.

I'd love to - unfortunately don't think my PC can handle it. Still rocking a 4690k. This may be what pushes me over the edge to finally build or buy a new PC, but the last time I checked, components were so outrageously expensive compared to when I last built (2013) that I was really turned off.

I have played a few hours which translates into about 10 minutes of play after unpausing for the first time. I think is is pretty good, especially for just launching.
This version is veeeeeeery deep mechanically so it will take me quite a while to wrap my head around a lot of it. My biggest gripe so far is trade. It is complicated as hell and I have no idea what I am doing there.
