I wasn't a huge fan of X myself, but absolutely loved 1-3. I played through 1 multiple times in a row, doing all of the side quests each time. The plot turns are numerous and really keep the story moving. Not sure which I enjoy more between that and 2, which also had some fantastic story telling. 3 did an excellent job tying them together, and had my wife crying at multiple points in the story! X has a TON of in depth side stuff, but I felt very underwhelmed by the main story.

As far as what they're like, if you're familiar with Xenogears and Xenosaga, they're by the same guy. I haven't played those, but I can't recommend the Xenoblade series enough!

After years of pleading and begging, Nintendo/Monolith pick a random Tuesday to drop the release announcement for the absolute GOAT:

Lets gooooooooooo

Xenoblade Chronicles X dropped today. The best open world ever, and it came out originally on the Wii U and had no loading screens. The world exploration was so good Nintendo had them handle the topography and world design for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Also this game has a soundtrack by the Legend Hiroyuki Sawano.

My favorite Nintendo system game of all time.

It's on my list! Sad to hear the main story isn't killer like 1-3, but I'll check it out eventually and just know that going in. L

I always think I will enjoy Xenoblade Chronicles games, but then I find myself falling asleep with all the long dialogue. It's too long and too "anime", for me.

Final Switch Direct tomorrow.

Extremely weird timing just a week before Switch 2 Direct.

Had it in WiiU and grabbed the Switch port on pre-order. Hoping for a slow weekend so I can settle in and start to give it a fresh playthrough.

On another note, I'd LOVE a Switch port of "The Last Story".

With the Switch 2 direct coming next week, I don't think this one being a bit sparse on big news is too surprising. With Prime 4 not having a release date shown, I'm expecting it to be a cross platform launch. Hopefully we get more info on it in the Switch 2 direct.

I also noticed a few games with 2026 release dates. I wonder if that is an indication that the Switch 2 may not release this year. Thankfully we shouldn't have to wait too long to find out!

Edit: Thinking about it more, Switch 2 launching in 2026 is surely too long of a wait. They don't have enough releases planned to fill out the rest of 2025 from what we've seen so far.

My major disappointment was no Metroid Prime 2-3 announcement for Switch. At the very least I was expecting ports (if not full remasters) for the leadup to MP4.

Honestly, I'm a litte glad that's one less thing to spend money on! I've read rumors on both ends of the spectrum for a Prime 2/3 remaster. I've read that they are ready to go and Nintendo is just waiting for the right time. I've also read that the source code for Prime 2 was lost and they never could figure out how to make the motion controls work for Prime 3. Maybe they'll get shown at next week's direct.

I would be highly suspect of the Prime 2 source code loss, given Retro is the company that developed all the MP games.

Transitioning the Wii motion controls from MP3 to Switch would be some work, but at the end of the day it is FPS style game, which has plenty of reference and standards for controls via controller. What I noticed with the MP1 remaster is they tried to retrofit "motion" controls for that and it did not work well. The biggest hurdle I think they will face with the controls on MP3 is the aiming without the Wii's IR sensor/pointer. A LOT of time was spent iterating on that to really leverage the Wiimote specific capability that made aiming in MP3 feel good and responsive. That will always be a limitation via controller.

Xenoblade chronicles x definitive edition is freakin legit. Reminds me of base phantasy star online 2 in gameplay. Minimal matchmaking for raids. Enjoying this immensely.

I'm just hyped for Uncharted Waters: New Horizons finally being on Switch Online. One of my favourite games growing up.

Skyward Sword on the Switch is just the effing worst. The controls are just clunky and unintuitive.

What a waste of money.

The controls were such a bummer, even on the Wii as well. It was a great story ruined by a horrid gameplay experience.

You mean the motion controls? Cause those are optional.

Nah...I use the button controls.

Maybe I should give the game a second chance using the motion controls.

That's how I played it, and honestly they're not that bad. It's not quite as good as the Wii remote was on the Wii version, but it's definitely better than what they did to translate that to the joystick.
