Looking for a desk chair for my desk at home. Spend a decent amount of time in it, and was wondering if any of y'all would recommend a gaming chair instead of a standard office chair. Any specific recommendations? Don't want to break the bank, but would like something that'll last a good while and not be bad for posture. Thanks

I have this gaming chair and it's awesome. Has a sub woofer in the back and tweeters on the sides and built in vibration for your back. It's very comfortable and the sound is killer.

However it is a bit low to the ground so may not serve your desk purposes as well as a desk chair that can be raised up and down.

I think I ordered it online from wal-mart for around $160.

I have a dx racer. Like it better than any ergonomic desk chair I have had in the past. Mine is black and white. Wish it came in a color that looked a little less "gaming" now that I have a nice wood desk and stuff.

Herman Miller Embody.

Don't buy a gaming chair unless your mom says it's ok.

Yeah mom said no to over 800 dollars for a chair. Think the racer I have was around 300 on Amazon.

This is the correct answer. Look on Craigslist or whoever auctions surplus bank/business/lawyer furniture in your area for deals. You should be able to get a like-new one for $300-400.

Get a real chair and not a gaming chair if you care about your back. I have a Lifeform but they are not cheap. Herman Miller is a good option.

Doc, I finally broke down and got one of these today and it is absolutely incredible.

I was rocking a $199 Lay Zee Boy from costco that I bought maybe in 2019 that had all of the fake ass leather peeling off, squeeked like a mf when I stood up, and my back/sleep was garbage -- and I put up with it for another 2 years.

I work from home and only go into the office once a week -- so i likely spend 45-55+ hrs a week on this chair.

I actually was in a Herman Miller store about 4 or 5 years ago and sat in this chair, but thought it unwise to spend almost 2 large on an office chair.

I've been keeping an eye on the sales and noticed it was almost always Nov 1 where they had their 25% off, so I went in today to test the chair and ended up walking out of the store with one.

Im very curious to see if there is a relationship between the chair I sit in for a lot of hours a week and the quality of sleep I get.

I think my desk chair could have been really hindering me physically for quite some time now, if it has been a contributing factor to my poor sleep patterns.

The difference between a good chair and great chair is not how you feel when you sit down, but how you feel when you get up after several hours.

I'd really recommend getting a good quality office chair. I went the re-manufactured route when our office implemented WFH in 2020 and couldn't be happier. I got a Steelcase Series 2 for ~$400 at the time and it's still in great shape. I bought mine through Crandall office online.

This is something I need to do at some point. I've worked from home for almost a decade and only had questionable chairs. I've tried both a gaming chair and the lazy boy from costco and didn't like either of them. The gaming chair we just sold and I gave the lazy boy to my wife as she did like it, and my office gets pretty hot so it just didn't work because I'd get sweaty. I need something decent that is also ventilated. I've been using a cheap chair my wife got off amazon and while it does the trick it's definitely not great.

Or for really great chairs like HM, you forget you haven't stood up in a while. While they look cool, and feel really great when you first sit down, gaming chairs don't really compare.
