Ordered Feb 8th
Shipped Feb 11th
Delivered Feb 14th
Installed immediately.

Currently getting 185 - 205 mbps. Absolutely braindead install process. Very impressed Mr. Musk. Went from 4Mps to 194Mbs in a matter of moments.

Bell Co. TX for reference

Assuming you had a deposit that was placed in 2021, correct? Otherwise that's a damn amazing turnaround on improvement.

My parents' Dishy is scheduled to deliver Wednesday. Ordered the Ethernet adapter and it's scheduled to deliver late February/early March.

My Ethernet adapter came today. Again super easy install. About a minute from unboxing to installed and existing mesh network up and running on it.

This is the total of the documentation included with the adapter. Only pics and no words in all the directions make it non language specific. Pretty genius.

Do you have service? I'm north of SA and it says Starlink expects to expand service in your area by late 2022.

Yes. I've had it hooked up for almost a week.

Here are the speeds I've gotten.

Everyone has "service" in the continental US. The issue is that StarLink has some unknown process for opening up cells (areas of service). When the cell becomes open they then go first to sign up to last with how many are allocated in that cell.

If your area is late 2022, that just means that they do not plan to open your cell until that time or you signed up late enough where there are that many people ahead of you in the cell to push you to late 2022.

I see thanks for the clarification. I haven't been following this closely as of late. Makes a lot of sense. I also have regular high speed here so there may not be much demand at the moment.

I just checked my address in Burleson County even though I cancelled my pre order. It went from early-mid 2022 about a month ago to now saying the cell is full and it would be 2023 or later. Of course starlink premium is still available starting Q2 2022

Lavaca county. I am waiting on the mount for the top of my house (zero obstructions), but put my dish in a relatively open spot on the ground (Starlink app says there is a little obstruction). I am getting a 30 ping and 120 download without a ethernet connection, although I am not tech savvy enough to know if that matters.

It should be great for calls, video chat, and video games. Ping/latency (delay in a call) on StarLink is about the same as cell phone service today (40-ish milliseconds). They plan to keep working on it to make it as quick as possible. Eventually, the satellites will communicate by laser between each other, making latency to the other side of the world faster than land based fiber since light travels faster in a vacuum than it does under water.

Another future goal is to have a StarLink phone system where you would be able to use the phone anywhere in the world.

I live in a mountain area and have no cell or no landline so we are totally reliant on wifi calling. I've only had Starlink for a month or so but it's been great so far for calls.

My folks are retiring in the next few months - wondering if this is a viable option for them with their 20' Airstream.

For those that already have their dish - would this seem like a PITA to uninstall and reinstall numerous times? They currently hotspot when they are rural and this could change things

Yall keep posting speeds and updates!

They haven't activated it being portable being yet so it won't work now but once they do it would be super easy to move and setup. As easy as setting the satellite facing north and plugging it in.

UPDATE

Shipped 3/3
Delivered 3/7

So far I am extremely happy with Starlink. Took all of 5 minutes to set up (dish is out on the porch until mount is delivered). I am averaging 230-250 Mbps download, 10-15 Mbps upload, and pings of 30-35 ms.

This is definitely a game changer for rural or areas without access to fast, reliable internet.

The only negative I've found so far is there are no wired ethernet ports on the Starlink router. The only way to get wired ports is to buy their ethernet adapter, then connect it to a traditional router. The ethernet adapter is backordered currently, but expected to ship in the next couple weeks.

The adapter works well. One thing I noticed before my adapter came is I was losing a good amount of speed between as I got farther away from the Starlink unit. Once the adapter came and I hooked it up to my existing air mesh network no loss of speed at all.

The mounts seem to be taking the longest time to arrive. I ordered the adapter, wall punch through kits, a longer wire and the roof mounts towards the end of January and am still waiting on the mounts. Supposed to ship next week. Everything else I ordered shipped ahead of the expected date.

I have mine set up the back yard for now. Awaiting the Ethernet adapter to be shipped (3/14-21). Also trying to decide on the best way to install (roof, under eave, etc), Any recommendations? And I need to install help from a local Brazos County satellite installer. Holler if you can help.

Where in central tx? I'm on the west side of Washington Co and still mid 22. I know of folks around me that have it (near Bellville). I've been on the list since Feb '21 and can't wait.

To my surprise spots were open in Brewster County, so I placed my order this morning. We'll see how quickly the equipment arrives and how it works in a very off-grid solar system. The new square dishy seems to use less power than the round dishy.

Anyone know if I order in this cell but ship to my house in North East Texas if it will work? I know some folks have said they can roam around the country with theirs now but $500 is a big gamble.

My neighbor signed up twice - once at home and once at his work address. His work address popped first and he brought it home. It was about a 15 mile difference in location - He said it worked intermittently. Once the home address was selected he registered the equipment to that address and it worked fine.

Thats a couple months old info though but the only data point I first hand have on it.
