Does anyone need a short mount? Took 2 months to get here and sure enough it's not going to work. Happy to help someone else that needs it and doesn't want to wait...

Maybe. Mine is supposed to ship this month and I'll see. But if someone is ready now, go for it.

I got my Starlink set up last night. I'm not getting the 100+ mbps I thought I would but it's immeasurably better than what I had. I'm located just south of Franklin.

In the first few weeks I was consistently getting 200+ down. I think I was one of the very first in my cell because I have lost bandwidth since a little at a time. I now get 50 regularly and every once in a while drop down to 10 or so. Not what I hoped for but much better still than anything else available to me before. Looking forward to more launches so that bandwidth can improve.

2 things:

1) My original Day 1 (Feb 8, 2021) order finally processed today in Kaufman County, TX. My neighbor is going to buy it off of me.

2) My "skip the line roaming" order was finally able to select my current address as the service address so no longer roaming.

Big win for us to finally be legitimate starlink users. Looking forward to some hopeful improvements now that I am no longer roaming/portable.

I just got my order for my home near Snook and also for our house on Lake Livingston. Both sign ups were from 2/8/21 at night.

Edit: I didn't realize RV ones could choose a home now. I have already cancelled that service and will return it as soon as I get the other one. I am not sure I need roaming anyway.

Their FAQ still says you can't convert RV to residential. Not doubting that they did, just might not be a guarantee.

Yeah my understanding is your service is always deprioritized behind residential service at their service address since you don't have an actual address with RV service.

We got our shipping confirmation for East Bernard last night. Should be here within the week. We have one other neighbor who has it already set up in his home, so we assumed it would be something we could order and get.

Not moving in for another month, but wanted to have that ready to go for working from home/etc.

Mine is set up and running through my OLD Orbi system now. Getting much better speed than the RV StarLink system I returned. Plan to move over to a Ubiquiti AP system soon...

I was looking for a use for my old Orbi system. Sounds like I found it! Thank you.

I have no obstructions at all. Speeds seem to average about 70mbps. I've seen up to 120 and as low as 12 at 6pm yesterday. The Orbi systems have an issue with pulling up the dishy stats that I have not figured out yet, so I am not sure on drop outs. I have not noticed any when I have used it. The latency has been as low as 25ms but seems to average about 40. Gaming is still better on my $30/month AT&T hotspot so far, but I am hoping with more satellites and freaking laser beams things will get better.

Got mine setup and seeing similar results to tfunk. Seeing speeds anywhere from 20 down to 200 down. Would say average would be somewhere around 70. Doing a speedtest, latency is pretty good at somewhere around 35ms, however when gaming it is usually around 90ms. I am giving mine to my parents as my internet is not too bad at 50 down and ping when gaming is around 60ms and they are still having to use dsl.

I'm setting mine up this weekend (or next). I have the ethernet adapter and an Orbi. Any other issues getting the Orbi to interface?

Go into the Starlink app and disable the factory wifi. I'd also turn off the dish heater. No reason for that 98% off the time in Texas. Once you turn off the factory wifi, plug the ethernet adapter into your Orbi's wan port and it should pick up a 100.x.x.x IP

Just got my notification that my order will ship. I used my Matagorda address a couple of months ago but I plan on trying to set it up in Richmond. Hopefully, no problems.

You're going to be roaming/RV service if you do that. Shouldn't have any problems, but your speeds will be deprioritized, and they're going to charge you more money for roaming.

If you just change your address in your account it should work without changing it to the portability plan as long as there is room in that cell.

Unless you change before it ships then it was moving you to the end of the line for the new cell at least at one point

If you have not received it yet then it says:
  • Deposit holders can update their service address at any time before Starlink ships. Orders are fulfilled based on the date of your initial Starlink order within your available area. Your place in the queue at the new location will still be based on your initial order date.

If you already have it:
  • You will be unable to change your address if the new area does not have current service availability.
  • By changing your location, you may not be able to return to your original address based on service availability. Once updated, service at your previous address will be disconnected, and the spot will become available to new customers.

So I am assuming since it let me move it then it should work when I get it setup.

Just was saying moving before shipping puts you in a potential order delivery delay situation. You can look at cell availability online. If you're new location is full i think you are now set to mobile instead of being denied. Now that they have rv/mobile people that had been using in alternate locations are seeing the charge show up on their bill.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
At the moment I have my starlink setup at home. I tested it a few months ago in my RV when I went camping and it told me I was out of my area and it could slow down, but the speeds were fine. This was before they added the $25 fee.

What will happen now if I do that again? Do I have to set up the fee ahead of time, or will it give me the option enable it when I turn it on outside my area? Will that affect my speeds when I bring it home?

Did a quick set up yesterday in western Washington Co. my two speed tests were 70 down/5 up. I was hoping for better but that is plenty for what I need. Later this week I'll actually mount to the house and set up the mesh system.

Did you order the Ethernet adapter for the starlink router, or does your mesh system support connecting to the router over Wifi?

It will probably require you to add portability to your plan.

There are 4 services. Home, Home w/ Portability, RV, and VIP. The difference between RV and Portability is that you have a service address where your traffic doesn't get deprioritized.

Does that have to be done before I leave on a camping trip, or will it give me the option to add it when I power it up on the road?

Have no idea. I just know it's something you can add/remove on a month by month basis. They might allow you access to their site and nothing else, it may not work at all.

You can add it from your phone if you're not too far out.

70 is about the max I've seen. Last few days, it's been around 30-40 even after a stow/reboot with zero obstructions. Just ran a speedtest and it was 25 down/7 up. Sadly, my hotspots are faster. Grandfathered Verizon UDP in same spot was 125 down/29 up on 4g
