Not sure about ping speeds being that high. I get between 39 to 54 right now pinging 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8

My downloads speeds right now are currently between 10 and 15Mbps. TestMy.Net was 0.535Mbps on two tests but that can't be right. It is better than that.

Feels unfair to keep reporting bad results without doing due diligence at troubleshooting the issue, specifically when people are watching this thread trying to decide whether to buy in. If you had bad hardware or some other edge case causing your issue, you are doing a disservice to others who may actually NEED the service.

Lots of folks have good results with Starlink support (myself included). It takes <5 minutes to submit a ticket and if it takes a long time to respond you are then in the same boat just waiting for it to get better. And lots of folks have good results with their Starlink service.

If you aren't worried enough about it to actually DO something about it... why are you so keen on updating this thread with your poor performance?

It's a disservice to others only posting 150mbps speed tests without also showing the flip side. Most people have only seen Elon's claims of 100-200mbps downloads with sub 20s pings. Starlink isn't all kittens and roses. I have no complaints when it's at 50-70mbps but it drops down to 5-15 way too frequently

I also already have a good idea about what Starlink is going to say. Their responses about slow speeds and pings are all over reddit. There's a reason they added a "disclaimer" about peak times on the app's speed test page.

Have you submitted a support request since rv service opened up? How quickly did they get back to you?

Make sure the multithread option is enabled on testmy. It's on the top right of the page. Speeds should pick up to a more accurate result

Yes I have submitted "post rv" a couple of times and their response time was 3-4 days initially and then daily until my issue was fixed.

I submitted a support request 3hrs ago. Let's see where it goes.

If nowhere, you are no worse off. Other than wasting time starting the ticket and proving me wrong

They responded faster than expected with a pound sand we're closing your ticket response.

Bummer. Glad they responded quick even though it didn't help. Hope they uncongest soon because your speeds are ridiculous. I'd cancel for sure if I didn't need it at those speeds.

46 more going up today...
https://www.spacex.com/launches/sl3-2/

Turned on multi-thread. Speeds are better today.

Ping average of about 70 between 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1

I am on the Brazos County side near Snook.

I escalated to SL's president tonight. We'll see if she does anything. I don't have much hope, but this is ridiculous for the price. Been cruising at 3-5mbps for a few hours now. Stows/reboots make no difference

Mine has started slowing down too. Hoping it is temporary but we will see. Don't really many options otherwise.

I actually reworked my network yesterday. Previously, I had a cellular router connected to an Orbi system. When SL was delivered, I just put it into the uplink of the cell router so I had a failover. Yesterday morning I realized that router only had a 100mbps WAN port. No big deal since the cell modem was internal.

I switched SL over direct to the Orbi and got a nice speed test of 120mbps that stayed high for a few mins until it cratered.

Ran a speed test this morning and it seems to have recovered some. But it is still early in the day and I expect it to also crater as the day goes on. Pretty disappointed if this is going to be the norm to ramp up early then disappear during "peak times". Where is my 200mb/s and 20ping elon promised!??!

I'm shocked but the SpaceX president responded directly to my escalation this morning. Can't say I've ever had that happen. Those escalations always get handed off to a team.

She noted my usage was "very different than other users" which doesn't make much sense to me. Hopefully she can explain

I'm bored on a zoom call and was catching up on the thread and wondered how mine was doing so ran a speed test (while on a zoom) and it came back good. I'm guessing the inconsistencies are related to how many people are allocated per area maybe?

I'm not exactly sure what she meant by that. I'm typically a heavy data user... Usually more than a TB a month, but that just work related and streaming media

I don't get this either. Are you meaning like what you do with the internet (video calls, streaming, downloading content, etc.)? Or are you referring to using other third-party routing/mesh systems like Orbi?

Anyone set up a mesh with their Starlink? My parents have it and bought eero 6+. I thought I set it up last weekend but it is not working. The eero app says it's connected but they don't get any internet from it. Guessing I did something wrong. Any help is appreciated.

I don't know what to tell you, but I use an Orbi with mine and it's great.

I also have an eero system and it has worked fine. Probably and older model than the one you are using. Do you have it hooked up using the Starlink Ethernet adapter? Hopefully someone more technical will be along to trouble shoot.

I have an Asus mesh network with multiple nodes hooked to the Starlink Ethernet adapter and an Arystone system (gets wifi out to my pastures and inside my barn) hardwired to my Asus router and it works like a champ. I have no cell where I am and can make wifi calls and have high speeds that goes Arystone -> Asus -> Starlink. When I'm inside I just use the Asus network.

Not much help for you other than to say that it can all work well with complex setups.

I have the Ethernet adaptor going to a net gear switch. Then the nodes are hardwired to the switch. It worked great the first day I set it up. I wonder if it's the switch? Also are you guys using the Starlink modem?

I am using the Starlink modem. I have the Starlink modem connected to adapter plugged directly into the eero node. All other nodes are wireless. No switch used.

I think you setup your mesh system to be in access point mode (or bypass mode - whatever they call it) and then plug it up to the starlink hardware via the ethernet port. Then let the starlink device do the routing and the mesh system just push the signal out further.

I could be wrong but that was what I was planning on doing with mine. I set mine up next weekend. If I am misunderstanding this, someone please correct me. TIA

I'll try that. My concern is their house is long so the farthest node is pretty far from the modem and through multiple walls. I'm not exactly tech savvy but I'm all they got ha. I thought having them wired would be better but maybe not.

Don't they chain together wirelessly? At least I thought that was the point! Lol. I could also be wrong.

I'll give it a go tomorrow. Let you know if it's a success. You are probably smarter than me.

Just wanted to update the thread. We started to see some improvements recently. Not mind blowing by any means and was run mid morning but it has been a while since we had seen even these speeds. Hope they hold out through the day and onward!

Have had a pre-order since February 2021. Got an offer for "Best effort" service this morning. Basically it's deprioritized and throttled. Took it since you lose your place in line if you don't.

Huh? You don't lose your place in line if you don't opt for best effort. The email actually says wait if you don't have an "urgent need".

Quote:

"Best Effort is intended for pre-order customers with urgent connectivity needs. If you can wait for Residential, we strongly encourage you to do so"

Will be interesting to see what your speeds are. I had a few weeks where peek speeds were more usable but the last 2 weeks have been single digit speeds again after around 8.

My speeds have bumped up in the last couple of months (Snook area). I regularly get around 100 down now, but probably average 80ish. It's been a long time since I have seen sub 20 speeds.

I have one out at my property near San Saba, TX. I get great download speeds (100-150) but my upload speeds suck (1-12). I wish they would balance them out a bit more. At least let the upload consume 25% of the total speed. It makes it difficult to do video conferencing for work. I can see and hear them fine but the inverse is pretty choppy.

Any updates on "best effort" service? We have been offered best effort for the family ranch near Hamilton. I'm sure it's better than nothing but is it good enough to be worth the expense?

Unless you have no other option, I would hold out for full service. Even my full service I am disappointed for the price I am paying and the congestion and slow speeds I'm getting.
