I just now (yesterday) got my Ender 3 V2 up and going again after about 3 months of trying to figure out what the heck was wrong (looks like the hotend fan was going bad). Still trying to decide if I want to switch to a direct drive or not (TPU with a Bowden tube is NOT fun).

Not sure what TPU you are using but most things like ninja flex are not really possible even with upgraded tube. I have some sainsmart that has a shore hardness of 95(A scale) and its fine. Results are reasonably flexible but not squishy.
Direct drive kits cheap these days but will likely limit your print speed. Just new a few so you can setup for different material and sizes.

I used the same stuff. Definitely a learning experience. I really don't know that I want to deal with a direct drive because it adds more weight being slung around. Then again, others have done it with good results, so maybe I'm just overthinking it. I'd probably do either the Biqu H2 V2, or the Ender S1's extruder now that they have a kit for retrofitting it. That'd be a few months/years down the road, though. My setup works just fine so long as I don't forget to put supports somewhere.

Direct Drive and dual Z steppers and screws made my Ender 3 Pro nearly bulletproof over the last 40 hours of use.

What setup are you using for direct drive? I tried the Hero Me Gen 5 and didn't really like it. I finally just bit the bullet and bought the Bondtech DDX.

I've got a Micro Swiss DD extruder. I'm wishing I had switched to linear rails first because I will need a new back plate for the Micro Swiss before I can add a X Axis rail.

The SUMO Enclosure for Prusa XL has also been launched in the market. You can use it for better printing results.

Was going to start another thread for this, but figured I would revive this one.

Anyone find a good Aggie maroon filament? I see a lot of decent ones, but don't want to buy 10 rolls to test them all if someone here already has a good one.

While this thread is bumped, Bambu Labs is having a big anniversary sale this month. You can get the A1 Mini for $199 which is a fantastic entry point into the hobby.

Any thoughts on the Bambu P1S and P1P? Looking at getting a higher price point to help my wife with cookie cutters for her business and my own projects.

I haven't kept up with new printer models all that well, but my understanding from what I've read is that those are really good machines. I'm actually looking at upgrading to a larger Bambu or Elegoo from my Ender 3 V2.

I have a P1S with the AMS. Fantastic printer that makes fantastic prints from the get go. No tweaking anything. No leveling. Nothing.

Today Prusa announced their own enclosure:

not cheap though, but does have some integrated electronics including a filtration/HEPA filter system.

The prusa xl is steep to begin with, but also worth it. I just can't justify it without turning from hobby to making a few bucks off it.

Awesome. That seems to be the consensus in the wild. Some of the stuff on YouTube can send you down Rabbit holes.

I will follow up with a couple things I have done with it since getting it that are more of QOL improvements.

First, added a frame around the screen to add some color to it, although I may get a panda touch (bigger, improved screen).

Second, printed an exhaust fan muffler. Didn't do a ton to reduce noise since I don't usually print on super fast speeds , but still noticable.

Last, replaced the stock lighting with a cheap $2 led strip in AliExpress. I grabbed one that doesn't use the USB port inside and uses the same power plug the stock light does in case I get a new camera down the road. The new light is almost a must. The stock one is too dim.

I have a few other improvements in line like a riser for the AMS, a filter for the exhaust, and a poop catching system for the AMS.

Thanks for the update! I was looking at some of that.

Did you just print those off thingyverse?

Makerworld. It's bambu's version of thingy verse. Except much easier to use and search with.
