How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm a man, I'm 40. Sorry, had to say it. lol. Actually I'm 42 but thats neither here or there.

It's been years since I bought a game with a disc. I can download a game from the Xbox app on my phone, to the Xbox at home. When I get home, the game is downloaded and ready to be played.

Anyone still buying disc games are the ones still hanging onto that flip phone that hasn't been turned on in 20 years.

Let go of the past. Embrace the future. Its not that scary.
It could be that your purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others. Explains why I come with a warning label. Life is short, drink jager with red bull.

When I buy a game, I like to own it. If I have to rely on playing it off the server (via download or otherwise) then the supplier can go out of business or otherwise deny access at their discretion. If I own physical media, and a device upon which to play it, then I can keep playing it even if the servers are no longer available.

...what?

If a game requires a server to run, then it doesn't matter if you have a disc or digital copy... the server is still required. You either have to host your own or use theirs.

Problem is the game files in the current gen are already exceeding the capacity of existing discs 27-51% of the time, depending on the platform, meaning you have to download the game for it to function.

For next gen that's likely to be 50%+ relative to commonly produced Blu-Rays, and no other entertainment medium has any use for >100GB discs. That means either adopting Nintendo's tactic of selling physical representations of a digital download code, or building a physical media disc with larger capacities almost solely for the gaming industry, and only for those segments of the gaming industry that would adopt it. PC will not adopt it. Nintendo will not adopt it. Microsoft is almost certainly of the same mind as Sony with respect to advance physical media to accommodate 15% of sales.
