I'm looking for an extra phone to leave at the house for my boys for emergencies. I don't want it to have internet access and I don't want to pay a monthly fee.

Any recommendations?

I checked Best Buy and all they have are smart phones.

Check Walmart or online. I think you can get a basic feature phone (like an old school brick or flip phone) on a prepaid plan.

Other option would be to buy said phone unlocked, and get a prepaid sim separately. Just make sure they work together before you buy (check the bands of the phone modem as well as the band of the carrier you plan to use)

I dont think you will find any without atleast a minimal monthly type service fee for keeping your connection alive and sim active, even on prepaid. Best i had for my deer blind phone was a $10 per 4 months of service ($30 a year essentially) that was pay per minute/mb used and would just roll the credits forward as you reupped. Its BYOD on Verizon network. For a phone Page Plus site has one, i would just go with that at $20 tbh as you know it will work.

Us mobile has a $6 a month plan ($72 per year) For unlimited talk text, 1 GB data.

If you have an old phone, probably will work. They resell for Verizon and Att.

Does it have to be a cell phone? I wanted an emergency phone for myself in case I can't find my cell, etc. I got a magic jack and a plain cordless phone, with caller ID and voice mail.

I paid something like $40 for the magic jack and 1st year of service was free. It uses wifi for calls.

I get no spam calls on it.

Tracfone has flip phones and you can get yearly plans.
