They're paying all this money for an Indiana Jones license and you end up playing from the perspective where the Indiana Jones you primarily see is his hands. When you're trying to build a strong central character you design it for third person. When you're trying to allow the player to create their own character you go first person. Indiana Jones is a strong central character, it should be third person.
First-person is a PC-centric design decision. There's a reason why Playstation first-party games are almost universally third-person (I can't think of any that aren't). There's a reason Nintendo games are almost universally third-person (I can't think of any recent ones that aren't), and there's a reason why Microsoft almost universally make first-person games (Gears being the exception?).
I don't understand why we can't have both. If the expected play style is 3rd person, give us the option to play 1st person and vice versa.
I can understand if it's a multiplayer game and 1st or 3rd person perspective provides an edge or ruins the game balance, but for single player games, give us both.
Cyberpunk 2077 is an example where I would have loved to be able to switch between 1st (the only option) and 3rd person perspective. I prefer 1st, especially when fighting, but 3rd is nice for cruising around town.
