My son and I are going to drive to New Mexico next weekend (12.5 hours in the car each way). He told me yesterday that the audio port on his phone has died. His headphones work fine with his PC but not his phone.

Is there something I can get to let him use his phone w/headphones without a working audio jack? Bluetooth or USB maybe? It would make our drive much nicer. Thanks

Just buy some Bluetooth earbuds. There are plenty of decent ones out there at a reasonable price.

Is it a USB c connection? If so then something like https://www.bestbuy.com/site/google-usb-c-to-3-5mm-audio-adapter-white/6302897.p?skuId=6302897 is all you need.

I looked into getting him a new phone hoping I could do it for free. It seems that audio jacks are becoming a rare thing on Androids as well.

We make a lot of road trips in the car, so after work we're going to Target, and I'll get him some $50 Bluetooth headphones.

If the current phone audio port is just a standard 3.5mm jack, do you know for sure it's dead? I'd get it cleaned first.

I guess add Bluetooth headphones to the mix. He may have a preference.

Plus the Bluetooth earbuds or headsets work great for Zoom calls.
