My 6 month old computer won't restart. It keeps trying to boot up and gets to the BIOS screen then reboots again and gets stuck in the cycle. I was able to get it to this screen. I went to the url but it has a 404 error message. Any recommendations? I got it to boot back up using Windows + B while hitting power button, but it still won't restart. Thanks.

Follow the instructions. Just because the QR code goes to a dead page doesn't mean the page doesn't exist somewhere else.

You could also call HP. Or I would assume at 6 months it's still under warranty. You could try that method as well.

There are no instructions, other than to go to that link. Bunch of other videos that differ from each other, so that's why I'm here. Hoping someone that knows what the fix is can point me in the right direction rather than spending bunch of time trying to figure out myself.

By instructions, he is referring to the onscreen instructions of inserting a BIOS recovery disc (usb) into the computer and restarting the machine.

You should be able to download the BIOS recovery file to a USB assuming you have access to another PC right now. Otherwise, you will likely have to call HP and ask them if they can mail you one.

Edit: Regardless of whether the url provided works or not. Go to HP's website and search for BIOS recovery.

This link is just an example. Search their website for your specific model.

Thanks for message. I have done some searching on their website. When you search for bios recovery files they seem to all go to a 404 error page. I think they're steering away from this type of correction and wanting you to do the Windows + B while booting up to restore, but that doesn't seem to be fixing my computer and allowing for a full install of updates. Computer is currently working however, so I'll keep searching. Thanks again.

Did you try clicking the links (rather than searching)? What zip04 provided looks to be the path forward, IMO.

3. Manually recover the BIOS...

--> 1. Create a USB recovery drive..

--------> 3. Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.

Running through the steps now from zips message. Just did the hard reset and ran a test and got this result. Had a new hard drive installed a couple months ago. Wonder what the warning is for. On to the next step.

Perhaps that new hard drive needs a firmware update but since its a warning keep moving forward.

Thanks. Is that something a computer novice can do? Any advice (dumbed down significantly!) would be appreciated!

Update: Using some Windows +B function t I googled I was able to get my computer to boot back up. I then went to this link and was able to download the lasted Bios files, and restart my computer. It ran a bunch of updates and took about 5 minutes. Booted up just fine. Thanks for the help!
