In case anyone was like me and ordered one only to be disappointed with the connectivity problems, the recent update is money and this thing hums now.

Been considering it with NCAA recently. Traveling to Seattle end of August and might have to play a few 'road games' in dynasty leagues.

For the longest time I was under the impression it was only usable from same wifi as your PS5.

Their initial marketing and the media didn't do any favors in making this clear imo.

If you already have a cell phone or a tablet, what is the use case?

A dedicated device that doesn't hog your most used device's functionality. When I play games I occasionally, if not frequently, look up information to help me and if it's way more cumbersome to do that while streaming on my phone. It is definitely a luxury purchase.

My biggest complaint with it is that the touchpad button requires a double tap to activate. If I could rebind the share button to the touch pad button it would be a lot nicer.

The screen and speakers are actually pretty awesome for the device size, and I appreciate that the controller is right there so I don't have to deal with propping anything up or linking a bluetooth device.

I bought it because I have my PS5 in a dedicated room I'm rarely in with the family around, so I could keep it in there on the big screen but still play it and be somewhat present at the house when they were watching something I was less interested in.

However, Like hph said, it's absolutely unnecessary and a total luxury item.

I have a logitech G Cloud and PS Portal. I find myself grabbing the G-Cloud more often when going on the road. Not only can I still remote play my PS5 but I can also emulate older concole games, watch some YT or NF.

IF...the PS Portal had internal memory and processing to play games offline (even older PS2/PS3 titles) it would be a must buy. But like said above, total luxury item. It is a premium piece of kit. Feels like you are holding a dualsense controller and screen is awesome.

The must be online makes the Portal an OK device. There will be a new Portal as handheld PCs and android devices have proven that mobile gaming (not mobile games) are here to stay.
