What are you doing besides zoom? Office apps? Just browsing? Need to run any software?

If you're just in meetings, doing online spreadsheets that aren't massive, and other light work. I'd go with a MacBook Air.

The above describes my job, I manage developers. I have a MacBook Pro, but it's never stressed. The thing I love about the Mac is the battery life. I can work almost 2 days between charging. However, the one thing I miss about my old 2018 MacBook is the new ones are much thicker and heavier. The Air is thinner than my old MacBook and has great battery life.

Thanks for the idea on Macbook, I have heard from many that its great but I am not used to it and would take time for me to learn how to share files and operate it efficiently.

Looking at Lenovo, HP, or Dell?

Personally I just buy a Dell with the 4 year warranty. Then when it breaks i rinse and repeat.

We use Dell's at work so i just buy them for home off the Outlet.

I just get whatever Asus is on sale at Walmart and then upgrade it to a SSD and more Ram. Ends up being cheaper for what I use it for.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

If a refurbished laptop will work, there is Discount Electronics in Austin.

https://discountelectronics.com

If you go with them, make sure you get a warranty of a year for computers or laptops.

I bought an HP laptop last year. I have had a problem, though -- it is pretty picky about which OS I can use. I wanted SuSE LInux, but when that didn't work, I also tried Ubuntu and Fedora. The only one that worked was Fedora.

We recently got Dell Latitude 5430's at work. They are freaking terrible. Brand new, battery lasts 3 hours, max. Large spreadsheets crash it, etc.

I bought a Lenovo in 2017, I hated it, I bought the Mac in 2018 and still use it. The last time I'd used a Mac was at A&M, and that was rare.

Their prices are rarely competitive and returns/refunds processes are some of the worst in the industry in my experience. Almost as bad as the old buy.com which set the standard for rock bottom. Again, only my experience.

A Mac Air can run Chrome. Stuff looks the same in Chrome on a Mac or on a Windows laptop.

It shouldn't take more than a week to be reasonably efficient, just ask yourself "where should this logically be" and you're right about 90% of the time.
