I am in the process of switching from XFinity to YouTube TV to accommodate service at multiple addresses. Looking at also dropping XFinity internet for what appears to be faster, cheaper, and possibly better Finer AT&T internet. The only thing holding me back is that I have come to appreciate the wide availability of free (as an XFinity subscriber) and secure Xfinity mobile/public Hotspots while out and about. AT&T Web site says they have them as well, but I haven't noticed any attwifi networks showing up when I am out and about.

Anyone have any insight on the availability of these public hotspots with AT&T?

Don't use any public hotspot…unless you want to hacked (maybe if you are using a vpn)

I never use public wifi. Does your cellular provider not offer any hotspot data? I use my Galaxy as a hotspot all the time.

Yes, I have hotspot data, and yes, I'm aware of the risks of using public hotspots. Xfinity offers 2 types, once is open, the other is a secured and encrypted network.

I'm with Verizon wireless. The benefit of an available public Wi-Fi is 2-fold. 1, there are places where cell service is weak/slow but there is an Xfinity WiFi connection available. 2, at my office for instance, there is an accessible Xfinity hotspot available which allows for long term tethering to WiFi without worrying about using up phone hotspot data.

As I've said, it's a perk I've learned to appreciate.. not that there aren't any workarounds or concerns with it. So far, I guess the answer is no one has any insight into the at&t availability? The little research I've done suggests what I've seen in that at&t talks it up but doesn't actually deliver on the offering.
