What is the best streaming option for espn, secn, etc?
Lost Disney/espn channel last night and need something for the weekend, month.

If it has a free trial that is nice too.

YouTubeTV and Fubo both have pretty much all the channels in their base packages, think Fubo is a few bucks cheaper. You should be able to get a free trial of either.

After promotions, Fubo is like $87 a month after taxes. YouTube is like $80 a month after taxes.

The beauty of streaming is you cancel once the superbowl is done. Unless you like to watch baseball.

Also, Disney is pissed right now because they didn't get their all sports streaming service, Venue, launched. You would get all of the sports for $40/month. No, tacked on bs like the Hallmark Channel or Discovery, etc....

Gotcha, good to know (and yeah, Venue would have been great). Though looks like Fubo has a discounted first month so it'd be cheaper if you only planned to keep it for the season.

As per which is better, Fubo has some more features targeted at watching sports but I haven't used it much. Can always grab a trial of each and see what you prefer.

It may be worth it to also check out DirecTV stream.

How important is having Bally Sports Southwest or whoever carries the Astros games? If you want either of those, you pretty much have to go with Fubo. Fubo and DirecTV are the only streaming carriers that I know of who have BSSW and the channel the Astros are on. And DTV just pulled their shenanigans with ESPN.

I have this. Have liked it. But it has lost the ABC/ESPN stuff too. Will probably do a trial of whatever to get through the idiots corporations pissing match interruption.

I signed up for a free YoutubeTV trial of 21 days yesterday to watch the FSU/BC game. No complaints, hoping Directv and Disney gets it sorted out by end of trial.

When did this happen? I was able to record and watch the game on Saturday. I'm pretty sure that was on ABC.

I think ABC/ESPN went dark before the USC-LSU game on Sunday

I wasn't watching at the time, but heard it happened right before the LSU game, mid us open. Can say for sure, they don't work now. So tired of all this posturing by these companies, when nothing but rate increases ever actually get passed onto the customers.

100% agree. This kind of BS is why I switched from YTTV to Fubo to DTVS. The only reason I even keep live TV around is to watch the Ags. If this isn't fixed by Saturday, we're going to have to switch again.

I've had DirecTV Stream for like 6 months but cancelled due to the Disney stuff. Sports are the only reason I have a steaming service at all so I am moving to Fubo.

Fubo is good if you need Bally, locals, and Espn. Without Bally, Hulu or YouTube. Hulu can include espn+ which is good for some baseball games.

I vote for the Hulu Live bundle. Gets all the sports channels, ESPN+, and Disney+ for ~$75/mo after tax.

It's a good deal but Hulu's live tv interface is just mind numbing. It's painfully obvious that their platform wasn't designed for live tv and some poor team got stuck with "make it work".

Paused YTTV for Fubo back in the spring, but I'm sticking with Fubo. We mostly watch sports and I've liked it better than YTTV.

DIRECTV emailed me they're raising prices $8/mo in the midst of their dispute. Already cancelled

Do they have Bally Sports Southwest?

Bally is nearly gone for DFW teams. The Stars will be on Victory+ and the Mavs just announced an agreement with OTA Tegna channels yesterday for this upcoming season. The Rangers have 20 games left on Bally and will do something different next season. Glad to be rid of Bally.

1. Also, for YTTV and Fubo, check your credit card for offers like $20 off for 3 months.

2. All of this. The great thing of streaming is turning it off out of season. Last year we stopped our main provider service and just did the Bally's App. It wasn't good, but it was better than paying $75/month for 1 primary channel, especially once HBOMax put the TNT sports on there.

3. Well, you wouldn't have gotten all the sports and still would have required Peacock/NBC and Paramount/CBS and Amazon Prime. A big part of the lawsuit was that Disney/ESPN was one of the worst at requiring carriers to take on all their extra channels if they wanted ESPN (Freeform, FXX, Disney Jr., ESPN News). Probably all of the carriers have tried to make deals with Disney without those channels as they really just want ESPN and maybe ESPN2. DIsney wouldn't do it, and then did the skinny bundle with Venu.

I look forward to ESPN being a stand alone service, but I want Dish, Directv, Comcast/Xfinity, Spectrum, YTTV and all the rest to stay in business just for more competition and more choices.

I also think there is a big misconception that people are paying for all channels that are on their YTTV or Directv channel listing. Of course, the main channels require a subscriber fee (ESPN or TBS or MTV), but a lot of those other channels are free for the carrier/streamer to broadcast them. Those channels either are paying the streamer/cable company or they are doing a deal that the streamer gets a % of the ad revenue or purchases.

It's why Tubi, Pluto, Roku, and all the rest of the FAST companies are able to broadcast channels for free.
