Burning DVDs and CDs

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I buy the real items with jackets but prefer to burn them and keep my originals pristine. I only want to burn maybe 50 DVD movies and 50 music CDs.

I'm an engineer but old school so I don't want a digital library.

What software is EXTREMELY intuitive, easy, and virtually error free. I'm not interested in going through 7 steps to use what might already be available on say Windows 10 unless it truly is easy.

Thank you in advance!

Nero was always the simple go-to. Looks like the last release was in 2017 but probably still about the best you can do simplicity-wise as long as you don't need any transcoding, etc.

It's been a while, CD BurnerXP was a free program I have used.

You can burn disks in multiple types of formats from a regular read only disk to a movie, or even bootable iso.

If you are in BCS, I think I still have maybe 50 to 100 new, never used, DVD's. I will have to dig in some boxes. I may have blank VHS too, lol.

You joke ....

I have a LaserDisc connected to my TV.

There is nothing like having to flip the disc over mid movie or even having to swap discs completely just to play an entire movie.

That's not a laserdisc. That's an RCA Videodisc.

And blue star to Diggity for the Nerdery throwback.

Wow. I used AnyDVD/Redfox to rip DVDs I buy for my media server, and I was just looking it up to see if you can also use it to burn them. And it's gone! Redfox shut down! It was such a good little utility.

If you're ripping DVD's, I highly recommend just going with a digital library and setting up Plex on your local PC. 50 DVDs is only around 225GB, give or take. Install Plex on your machine and then download the Plex app on your TV, Cell phone, or any device, and easily watch your movies from anywhere.

Use MakeMKV to rip your DVDs to an MKV file, and you're golden. You can also do the exact same thing for your BluRays, as well.

Yeah, these are different. An actual laser disc is a separate platter, much like an LP but thicker (two platters fused together, hence why you have to flip the disk .

I bet you thought you were sitting on a gold mine with your rare, "laserdisc" setup, huh?

That's ok. I thought I was looking at a bumped thread from 1991.

Alas, we were are both wrong.

Since "Talkies" began technology has become unhinged.
