I went ahead and rerolled a Ranger. The warrior was not having any issues, and my build completely wrecked bosses. However, it wasn't very fast, so clearing trash mobs was very slow, which made me think mapping would be a slog.

My lightening arrow Ranger i was able to kill act 2 boss after about 6 quick deaths learning his mechanics and what i could dodge through and what i couldn't.

I rolled a lightning ranger. Close to the end of act 1. Pouring basically everything into elemental damage has yielded pretty good results.

I was rolling with a grenade merc and just hit a wall in Act 2. Was struggling on bosses and just not having fun with the playstyle.

Rerolled to an invoker monk using ice strike and I'm just cruising through the game. Way more fun playstyle and way better bossing, despite it being melee.

Made it through act 3 cruel last night and ran my first map. I rolled the final bosses easily and it kinda disappointed me. I enjoyed having the board be a big struggle.

Well I've been having fun gambling on everlasting gaze amulets. You can buy them for 25-30 exalts, and hit them with a vaal orb. My first two did well and both sold for 2 divines. My next few that I've gambled on didn't do anything special but still sold for 25 exalts so really only lost a vaal orb on those. It's a fun game within the game to play

Got to end game, ran a bunch of maps. Looks like it gets repetitive pretty quickly. Might be done for now, unless I am missing something. Interestingly, playing so much POE2 kinda makes me want to give D4 another shot

I'm in the same boat lol. Im about 25 maps in and kinda bored at level 75. I don't know how people are pushing into the 90s and not bored out of their minds. There really isn't much to do. Most of the loot just feels worthless and occasionally I'll find a gem or something worth a few Ex. Outside of that, everything is disenchanted and even the uniques are 99% worthless.

I was but took a break to play the new D4 season.

Looking forward to what they do with the endgame. I do have an issue with the amount of RNG for endgame pushing. For someone who doesn't like to mess with trading, it's nearly impossible to craft a good item. In my nearly 50 hours of playing, I think i've crafted a single item worth using. That is bad.

I have no problem with the RNG element, but they need to give us the ability to direct the RNG a little better towards what we are looking for. Right now, all i'm doing is farming maps to get currency to buy off the Trade site... that's not why I play ARPGs. I would like it rebalanced to where it's at least 50/50, gear I find vs gear I buy.

Act 1 and Act 2 are fantastic, Act 3 was a little long. However, you can tell all three are very polished. Obviously, from what GGG even has said, the end-game was thrown together quickly for early access, so I am expecting a lot of great changes.

Combat feels great for most classes and I really like the Passive tree.

With GGG it's really hit or miss on really direct crafting methods. Sometimes there will be a season with a really good crafting mechanic but without super high investment you won't be able to create exactly what you want unless you get super lucky.

I really miss a few things from POE1, mainly crafting bench to fill unused slots with something useful or to block mods before crafting on an item. Miss alt orbs to be able to get mods you want on a base before regal. Scours, man I never knew how much I loved them until they were gone.

Took a break to play D4 season since everything I stilll need for my current poe2 char costs an insane amount of currency. GGG end game is all about grinding currency to buy the stuffs you want, it's insanely rare to actually get exactly what you want. Which makes it even more frustrating that they don't have an actual AH yet. At least we can trade currency easily now.

I feel the exact same way. Last Epoch nailed gear crafting better than I've ever seen it - wish some others like POE2 or D4 did it a similar way.

I am also playing the D4 season and man, the difference in difficulty and ramp speed between this season of D4 and POE2 is insane.

I agree on Last Epoch. I really enjoyed the crafting in that game, and the loot filter was epic and easy to edit.

My issue with last Epoch was the main campaign just wasn't interesting to me and I would like a better end game.

Though I've never really encountered an "end-game" in an ARPG that keeps me playing. I tend to like the Diablo style of Season Journeys. That gives me a goal to achieve, and the reason to get better gear is to complete all of the journey. Once I complete it, I move on to a different game until the next season.

The problem for D4 is, that the season can be completed really quickly. Then there's nothing left to do

Depends what you mean by quickly. I'm just over 20 hours in and not finished with the season journey yet. Also, the battle pass, or whatever it's called, takes a while to complete.

I'm not looking to put 60 hours in a season. I want to pickup the game, play for a week or so, then move on.

I am taking a break to do D4 as well. I feel like that would be a fun combo if they do seasons opposite each other.

I ended up making it to level 92 and the death xp loss broke me basically. Losing 10+ maps worth of xp wasn't fun and I had one series of maps where I died 3 maps in a row to random stupid things (like a level 82 boss spawning right in range of me with a mana drain ability and 1 shorting me in about 1/4 second). So I decided it was time for a break.

Id also love the ability to craft something useful. I really only made a couple of items that were decent and 1 of those I sold Because it was not a huge upgrade and someone offered me 200 exalts for it (had it on the trade site for 40 ex).

Enjoying d4 again but I do miss having actually challenging content. I'm playing a barb this season and it's been fun.

I played some last night and got a ranger up to level 11 or so. Honestly, it feels about the same but I think the new class is the problem - seems like a lot of the streamers dont care for it much.

I am glad they started a new league though. I had stopped playing a little while back because the prices had gotten so out of control.

Liking the new gems and stuff though. I have no idea what I am doing and it feels pretty slow, but the start of last league felt slow too.

I've been playing the new league with the Huntress. I don't understand all the *****ing and moaning. Are there some balancing issues and some things they could fix? Absolutely. But I think some people expect this to be D4 or even POE, and that's just not the direction the Devs are going going. They want this game to be more methodical and harder. You actually need to learn the boss moves and avoid them.

For huntress, I'm playing Lightning Spear and am blasting through Act 3 right now. No issues at all for me. I feel plenty powerful with random yellow gear I have picked up along the way. I spent a few Alch orbs for a decent spear and plowing through.

My only complaint is that I don't quite understand the Companion mechanic because mine hardly seems to do any damage. I also have a warning message about needing more spirit on the companion skill gem, but I have it turned on and should have enough spirit. Between turning him and Herald of Thunder on, I still have 4 spirit remaining.

We'll see if the devs end up caving into the loud player base in the same way the D4 devs did. So many just want to log on, hold one button, and mindlessly wipe the entire screen so they can pick up all the pieces of candy. I actually enjoy having to play the freaking game.

ETA: I always appreciate Raxx's thoughts because he doesn't just rage irrationally like so many streamers. He actually thinks through these things and proposes other possibilities instead of just *****ing:

Raxx is great for the mostly level-headed discussions. I'm doing the Rake/Stomp and just passed the first trial.

I'm fine with the devs tuning things way too low so when we fully release they've gotten the tuning right. If you play the game knowing it's still early access, these things don't bother me, but I'm also not trying to finish it in a week like D4.

I'm running poison ranger this season as I figured everyone would run the Amazon. It's fun but slow and methodical. It's weird aiming after playing spark last season!

Just about to the end of act 2. Taking it pretty slowly.

Mainly just doing my own thing still so far. Looked at a couple guides and Poe ninja for some inspiration. After the lightning spear buff I've mainly just been using lightning spear. Use snipers mark to get frenzy charges. Curious how the new skill they are patching in right now plays, may try that tomorrow to see if it's any good for frenzy charges.
I'm lvl 80 currently. Up to tier 11 maps no problem with gear I bought off trade for 1-3ex. Spear I found a decent one on the ground and lucked into a decent accuracy roll on an ex slam, been using that since cruel act 6 without issues. Clear is great, going to need better gear to kill bosses once start getting atlas points, single target isn't the best in my current set up for sure.

I've been running lightning spear since level 6 and have had no issues the entire playthrough. I'm at Cruel A2 and still clearing fairly easily.

Bosses still require actually playing the game and avoiding the mechanics, which I actually like. I love Soulsborne games so have no issues with bosses being challenging. Apparently, some players just want to walk into a boss room, stand in one place to face tank, and kill the boss in 15 seconds.

I respecced today from poison to lightning arrow. Poison turned to crap real fast at the end of act 2. Lightning arrow isn't a ton of fun but it's at least playable.

I doubt I last all that long in this league. I'm towards the end of act 3. Do I get to do 4, ,5, and 6 next or do I have to go replay 1-3 again? I'm not sure I will run back through the campaign to get to maps.

Still repeat 1-3 to get to maps. It's a lot faster second time through with a functioning build, but yah, still a slog.

I ran into a couple of those dead ends they're fixing over the weekend. The bigger problem I think is the lack of meaningful drops… not sure what they can do there with so many base types and so many affixes. Feels like raw currency needs to be more prevalent. Like EX/C level so you can actually do more "advanced" crafting.
Rule Number 32
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Ah lame. I thought they added in areas 4, 5, and 6? I remember last season the 2nd time through was fast but still, it's lame playing through the same exact thing over again.

I am definitely glad they are changing the act 3 maps. They are horrible. I'm in the middle now so I'll probably Just pause until it is actually pushed out.

And yeah the loot right now is terrible. I'm level 41 and still using a level 8 quiver and I think my boots are like level 10. I refuse to use boots without some form of movement speed and I literally have not seen any drop or at a vendor in 30 levels. I don't think they need to make rares drop that much more, but they need to make your loot that drops actually USA le by your class (similar to what diablo did last year). Right now 90% of the loot that drops is straight crap. Just make the blues decent and maybe up the drop rate significantly on regal orbs or shards where you can upgrade your blues and not feel dumb for not saving the regals for end game.

Yeah, my biggest gripe is the lack of crafting materials. Their philosophy seems balanced around finding the bases you want and then crafting your gear (which can work well, I really liked that system in LE). Problem is, the crafting materials are still pretty rare in the campaign, and knowing that you can get much better gear through trade disincentives crafting it yourself.
Lathspell
How long do you want to ignore this user?

That and the RNG to get what you would really need is so freaking high.

For example, you MUST have both flat phys increase and the phys % increase on any weapon for it to be worth anything. If you don't have those specific rolls, it's a useless item. I don't know the total modifier count, but would be interested to know the probability of rolling both those affixes.

On top of that, you have the RNG to not just roll those affixes but a high tier of those affixes. Because each is completely RNG without anyway to influence the rolls, it's basically nearly impossible to find the gear you need either by crafting or through drops. That leaves the game as a currency farming game to purchase the items you need.

Then include that same amount of RNG required to craft armor with those same types of modifiers required for a state like Evasion, but then also needing resistances and additional attribute points to be able to equip anything or upgrade your gems past level 11.

None of this would be a huge issue if the game wasn't also designed to be difficult. I love games that require my attention, so I have no issue with that. The issue is the balancing between game difficulty and the near inability to find the equipment you need as you level.

Again, I'm still enjoying the league with my lightning spear Amazon. I'm just hoping they revamp crafting to be much better in the future. I'm really looking forward to the new Last Epoch season because their crafting is far superior and they seem to have made a lot of great changes.
