I've been looking for an engineering laptop for college at TAMU. I like the ASUS Zenbook S16 for its impressive specs and sleek design. I don't want anything too bulky, so no gaming laptops or anything. I think the Ryzen AI 9 370 should be suitable for everything I need, I especially like the 32gb of RAM and 81 TOPs, however, I am worried about the lack of discrete graphics and how that could affect performance. I wanted to see if anyone had any comparable recommendations.

I think the need for discrete graphics depends on the major you are considering. For example, I am in industrial engineering, and everything I do doesn't require a discrete graphics card, but someone in mechanical engineering will want one for modeling. As far as a recommendation, I would look at what 12th Man Technology is offering since they have locations on and around campus if your laptop has issues.

Brand new M4 Air starting at 1k might be worth looking into if you are open to a mac.

I do not like any MacOS devices, I know Windows and Linux really well but thank you for your suggestion.

I want to major in Mechanical Engineering. I have looked at the 12th Man Technology selections, but I don't really like the Mircrosoft or Dell selection they have, especially for their prices for the performance.

Framework laptops are a good choice as well. Highly customizable and upgradable by the user.

My daughter has a Zenbook Pro Duo 15 and is in Interior Design...heavy in graphics.

32GB RAM
RTX 3080

Crazy fast and never had an issue with lag or graphics speed.

However, the duo screen is very spotty. Loses connectivity frequently. The battery lasted about 30 months, maybe that is normal.

I just got a MacBook Pro 16 M4 Pro for my work laptop. It handled all the electrical engineering stuff including running Revit & AutoCAD .

I have a spreadsheet at work with 3 million cells of atmospheric and physiological parameters and it crushes my laptop since it only has 8 cores. One of the galls at work has a workstation with 20 cores and it cuts the update time on that spreadsheet by nearly 30 seconds. I'm a little jealous.

What works as an engineering laptop differs by use case. I know many engineers that haven't done any math in years.
