Looks like we get the official announcement tomorrow. Maybe release?

Hoping for release. All the rumor mills were saying release today, or this week.

Everything points to a shadow drop this week.

Guess they remade Skyrim so many damn times they had to find something else to do. So they remade IV rather than try to make VI

I would've preferred Morrowind, but I'll take Oblivion.

There's an interview with Todd Howard where he says, if he had his way, he would announce games a week before release. If that's what we get with Oblivion Remastered, I would be stoked.

I became a fan of the Elder Scrolls back in my senior year of high school, in '05, playing Morrowind on Xbox. I then sunk so many hours into Oblivion when that came out on the 360. I think Morrowind is amazing and has the best main story line of the entire franchise. However, Oblivion has the best side quests and faction quests in the series, imo. The Dark Brotherhood main quest line is the BEST Bethesda quest line ever conceived.

Yea, I remembered when they first announced Fallout 4, I think nobody saw it coming and it released a few months later. I think this is the best approach is to just announce when 99.9% ready.

I see the winky emoji, but for those who may be unaware, the Obilvion remaster is being developed by a separate studio - Virtuos Games - while Bethesda (presumably) is working on ES6. Everything i have heard still points to probably 2027 (or later) for ES6, which is a bummer.

I'm sure die hard fans of this game will enjoy it, but playing through a game that massive and long again just to see stuff remastered? I'll have to pass even though it was a great game.

Never played Oblivion, but loved Skyrim. May have to check this one out!

Would need to be massively overhauled in the gameplay department. Lots of stuff is severely antiquated by modern standards.

It's gonna break the internet if the I and V swap places at the last second.

At the very least I hope they reworked the atrocious Oblivion leveling system.

I've never understood playing through a game again period unless it's been a really long time since you played it.

Example: I bought the Anniversary edition of Skyrim because it had been 10 years since I played it and even then I couldn't get too much into it because I've seen it all. (The constant crashing trying to play with mods didn't help either - that system doesn't work which was one of the reasons why I bought it).

Other than that, I can't think of a single game I've ever played through twice. Meanwhile, I'll see people talking about their 10th or 11th run through a game and I simply can't comprehend having to click through all of that text you've read so many times. It's insane to me.

1 major downside to releasing this week is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 releases in 2 days. I am pretty sure i am not alone in being extremely excited for a new rpg with traditional turn based battles mixed with skill checks on damage/dodges. No way would i put off it to play a remaster.

I've played through Fallout New Vegas many many times. I've got 550 hours in it on Steam and no idea how many on PS3 when it first came out. I enjoy the look and feel and atmosphere of the game. I don't care that I already know all the dialog, I just skip through it, doesn't take long at all. There are MANY different ways it can be played as well, making each run a little different and adding to the enjoyment.

I've recently discovered tale of two wastelands which combines FNV and Fallout 3 into a single game running in FNV's engine which adds even more reasons to replay it.

TL;DR I really enjoy FNV so I understand how and why people want to replay Skyrim or other ES games so many times.

I loved Oblivion. Hope they add a few interesting new quest lines. Shivering Isles remastered could be amazing.

This could be interesting but even then clicking through all of the text already gives me tired head thinking about it. I just played FNV for the first time a couple of years ago so it's too soon.

I am the opposite of this. Never played Skyrim but enjoyed Oblivion. I don't even know if I even finished the main Oblivion quest, my memory is hazy.

Agreed with the other poster about a Morrowind remaster. That was a really cool setting and story.

They changed character creator gender from male/female in the original to "body type" 1 and 2 in the remake. Of course.

It is an RPG, role-play a different character, pick different responses, find different ways to complete a quest, use different companions. There are plenty of ways to make subsequent playthroughs of a game fun and interesting.

At least that's the plan until you inevitably create a stealth archer again

Curious about the gameplay changes. I played this again 4-5 years back and it was ok. Definitely a "for its time" kind of game.

Ha. This.

Even if you play as a different character how much of the text would be different? 5% at most?

Anywho, I'll shut up now.

I'll definitely be playing it, but I will say its getting tougher and tougher to commit to these big games. Obviously RPGs like Elder Scrolls are always gonna be very large, but it feels like most games are really long these days. Assassin's Creed, Ghost of Tsushima, Red Dead etc all require tons of hours to complete. I used to replay lots of games over the years, but that definitely doesn't happen anymore. Skyrim is a great example because it came out when I was at A&M. I've replayed that thing several times. I doubt I ever play through it again simply because of its size now. I only played Witcher 3 once because of how long it is.

I am super stoked to see the remasted version of Tamriel. I have stupidly high hopes for a modern Elder Scrolls experience graphically for ES VI

Over 115gig for this one. Guess that they improved the graphics slightly.
