When it comes to innovation and new creativity compared to kcd1, yes it was a snoozer. Its more extended story of kcd1 with tweaks to make combat and other QOL items better, yes, but it didnt innovate or bring much new to the table to earn it any awards. Especially Best RPG or GOTY. Its a sequel, not a new IP.

I tried to get into KCD2 but it just didn't grab me. Glad to see E33 sweep. Well deserved

I haven't played KCD2 but from what I've seen and heard, it is a great game, even GOTY worthy. The devs just got unlucky it came out the same year as E33. Absolutely nothing was going to beat E33. It is a once in a generation type of game. I know the KCD2 devs are disappointed but that is a terrible look. If they had lost to Astrobot like last year I would understand but they lost to one of the greatest games ever made. No shame in that.

Sequels never win the top awards unless its a really ****ty year for games. Its just how it realistically works. Old and boring vs new and exciting, judges rarly ever pick the old continued IP.

Finally started playing this game. Wow. It truly deserved all the praise it received. What an awesome game.

Finally bought myself a ps5 because I needed to play this game. I do have others I am interested in but hearing "This is the Final Fantasy we've waited for" repeatedly had me finally pull the trigger for Christmas. I didnt want to play this one on PC.

Loving it so far.

I have now completed the game and it is in my top 10 of all time I think. This game is as close to a perfect 10 as you can get.

An excellent way to spend 20m. Carbot dropped this masterpiece.

I've watched this like 4 times. It's soooo good.

Great 40m mini documentary that popped up on my YT recommendations. Does a great job on the whole start to finish story, from FF8 inspirations as a child to dominating the game awards this year.

Just started 33 after finishing Avowed last night (which was amazing btw).

The first 30 minutes is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. If there wasn't so much good buzz I would not slog through it. Seriously the most boring 30 minutes of any RPG I've ever played.

You have multiple tutorial fights to learn the basics, a mime fight where probably 99% of players got there asses handed to them on try 1 and tons of back story lore and multiple Easter eggs to find from speaking with everyone before the gormage. Where is the boring part? There is no button mashing spam like in the current trash arpg that final fantasy has become. If you expect that, this game is not for you.

I've fought a little girl and a balloon so far. In 30 minutes of gameplay I haven't hit the hard fight yet.

I don't like any of the FF games, the anime style is not for me.

Compare this to the start of any mass effect, witcher, skyrim, etc and it is really a slog. I'm sure it picks up soon.

Definitely the old style of you get what you put in. They don't hit you with the story or what's happening, you piece it together from conversations, music, and the general atmosphere.

Still working my way through it and loving it. That being said, if you're looking for the old walk two steps get a random encounter and wanting it to be battle focused more like Persona, I could see where it may feel slow.

I think the first 30 minutes are incredible, but then you get generic uneventful journeying until the end of Act 1. Then instead of answers you have a few more generic hours of travel. Then some strong story stuff and onto the finale.

The pace at which they dole out story beats was very frustrating to me. For a game with no fluff, it still felt like half fluff.
