I want to be able to track individual names (and list them alphabetically from the source sheet) and list how many times they occur from the source sheet next to the name.

I don't know how to do this; Googling has had mixed results.

I know how to use the Countif function - I really don't want to have to input around 800-1000 individual names and type out the function for each one.

Edit - OK, I figured out how to list individual names and number of times using "Query". Still need to be able to list first name by last name if querying by last name.

This sounds like something a Pivot Table would be perfect for.

I can't do it for you but I do know a Pivot Table will do this. I have one setup for a document I use. I used Chat GPT to write the stuff for me.

Just ask Chat GPT "I want to organize data from a sheet into a Pivot Table and have it sort and count how many occurrences of a specific value" and it will get it done for you.
