We've actually had the opposite experience in our vehicles. Wife has an iPhone and I have a Samsung. Her Apple Carplay is always disconnecting or freezing while we never have issues with Android Auto. She does have an older phone so maybe thats the issue.

Personally the only Apple product I've owned has been the iPod nano for music while running because I don't want to carry my phone because they're big and bulky. Never like the OS for Apple products and Android and PC products have never given me a reason to switch.

I never understood the whole complaint behind the green vs blue bubble thing that Apple does on their phones. Seems like a dumb and unnecessary thing to have in the system.

Green vs blue is Apple trying to have a walled garden.

I'm pretty unique that I have both, I guess. I much prefer Android phones, but my computers and tablet are all Mac. I have a 14" MBP M4, 15" MBP M2 Pro, Mac Studio, iPad Pro and iPad Air and iPhone 16 as my work phone ... then just got the Pixel 10 XL as my personal phone replacing the Pixel 7 Pro.

For tablet and computer, I prefer Mac. But for phone, I vastly prefer Pixels and have since before they were Pixels. In the early iPhone days, you had to jailbreak it to use it as a hotspot... on Android I could just flip it onto Hotspot. I used this all the time when I was transmitting photos at games before stadiums had great wifi.

Then it seems like over a decade ago, Google adopted USB-C. Lightning cables are VASTLY inferior, but Apple refused to upgrade so they could get the money from Lightning cables. Even as my MacBook Pros came with USB-C instead of MagSafe chargers, Apple still refused to put USB-C into their iPhones. When traveling it is so great to use a USB-C for my computer and just pull it out and use it for my phone. But then before I got the iPhone 16, I had to carry stupid ass lightning cables, too.

Androids have just been a way better user experience and better to customize. iPhones seem to lag behind and their strength in the US seems to just be based social pressure in forcing green text bubbles.

I use a Samsung S25 Ultra for my phone. I also love my MacBook. I bought my first MacBook 7 years ago, that one is still going strong. I never had a Windows laptop last anywhere close to that without it being crap by the time it died.

I work in web and mobile development, so I get exposed to a lot of both Android & iOS. I will never go back to a Windows laptop, but I have no desire to switch back to an iPhone. I hate all tablets, but if I had to choose a tablet, I'm picking the iPad. That said, why do you need to get a cellular capable iPad to get a freaking GPS chip in it? Even the $60 Android tablets have a GPS chip.

Currently sitting on my desk I have:
S25 Ultra
S23 Ultra
iPhone 13 Pro
iPhone 14 Pro
Cellular iPad
Wifi iPad
2 Samsung tablets
Intel MacBook
M2 MacBook

I've always had the pro versions, currently have a 14 pro. I may be missing something but the standard 17 looks like a pretty solid upgrade option. May be going that route or may just get a quote on replacing my 14 pro's battery.

Apple is evil. Pro-CCP and anti consumer. Unbelievable so many are so loyal to them.

Of course, I hate Google almost as much.

Running GrapheneOS so Google can't Track/Market me. The only downside is that I had to give Google a one-time payment for the hardware (Pixel).

Not a huge fan of either, but if you are going to have a phone then you have two options. That's it.

So, pick your poison.

GrapheneOS is de-Googled Android. That's meets my definition of an alternative.

I have an iPhone and Windows laptop, while my wife has an Android phone and uses an Apple laptop

Edit: 8 year old has an iPad and Switch (Nintendo)

Yep, supposed to be RCS but from what I can tell so far the implementation is buggy as hell.

I was so happy when Apple finally added RCS, but you still run into the issue of friends that never upgrade their Android phone.

Wanted to try an iPhone a couple of years ago and I will say, it is one of those things that gets some things right but juuuuust enough wrong to piss you off if you are not truly married to Apple products or the brand.

Have a Watch, iPad, MBA, and phone. Hardware wise, they are good to great. But I don't understand how anyone can say their software is competitive with a straight face. Even putting aside their lockdown attitudes it truly feels like software is a back burner issue for them at all times. This goes for pretty much all their devices.

Going back to Android after this phone dies. But looking hard at the Nothing line of products now as well.

Interesting. Never heard of Nothing. Love that monochrome OS look.

Anyone with an iPhone but still using the Google suite of apps (Gmail, chrome, Books, and so on) instead of Apple versions?
