With the Disney/ESPN blackout what is the best temp option to stream live sports during the impasse? I have had YTTV for 5 or 6 years now but now that ESPN was pulled I realize the only times anyone in our family uses the service is for live sports or cable news. HULU + Live TV has an offer for 3 months at $69.99 mo. that switches to $89.99 months. in month 4. I currently pay around $83 a month. for YTTV.

Is there another streaming service that offers ESPN live tv for a cheaper trial during the blackout?

I have Disney Plus for the kids and have watched HULU content on that platform, if I dump YTTV permanently for Hulu can I get ESPN cheaper somehow in a bundle?

ESPN and Fox have bundle now for $40. It'll be $50 soon enough I'm sure. One of the shows it at $50 but marked down to $40. If you just want sports that's the way to go.

I need ESPN channels and Fox News for myself and "gags" CNN for my wife. Nothing else matters. I guess I will sign up for Hulu Live and cut YTTV

So she's the one. Well, her and my mom. Jokes aside CNN is offering a stand alone subscription starting mid-November. I'm sure that will be at least as successful as their last stand alone subscription but it might save you some money for a while until it gets cancelled again. Fox News is on the ESPN/Fox bundle. That aside Hulu is about it. It's perfectly mediocre but at least it's overpriced so that's nice.

I've been using ESPN unlimited, this season. I opted to go this option for the season, but will probably go back to a full live TV streaming option next season. ESPN's app is complete *****

What streaming device are you using?

The ESPN app on Apple TV is pretty legit....allows lots of things you can't do through most TV providers. For example, can do multi screen and pick any games you want in the 2, 3, or 4 screens.

I don't mess with Apple.

I can open up as many windows as i want to, on a PC to my TV, but that's not my problem. The ESPN app is horribly designed. The layout sucks, the searching sucks, finding videos on demand sucks, and performance isn't on par with any other other streaming service.

It is *****

Agree on the ESPN app. I only use it when our games are on ESPN+ or to watch the band at halftime. It almost never saves my log in, so always have to go through the long process to re-enter credentials. It's clunky and not easy to use.

I was thinking the same, but it hasn't happened yet. ESPN caved a little and is making Gameday available for anyone on their app

In Houston yes, but it doesn't look like any other part of Texas will get ABC with the sling pass option

We have had Hulu Live since it first came out and were grandfathered into a Disney+ESPN+ combo. We've always liked it. I do agree the UI isn't as good as YTTV, but its never really been an issue for us.

I do hate that Disney is consistently being allowed to buy all the television and media companies and putting a stranglehold on the market. Guess the pay the politicians enough to let them do it.

I didn't go for Hulu Live yet until I decide to cancel YTTV. We have Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN for $29.99 bundle and I was thinking I would just figure out what I am going to do after this weekend

Is anyone familiar with an app that has the Optimus Prime looking logo, where it has access to what seems like every channel out there?

My buddy has it, and he gets access to just about anything and everything, including local networks in basically any market out there.

He's an old and keeps calling it "prime" but I don't think it's associated with Amazon. The interface looks kind of janky, but the amount of content he gets is incredible. Live sports are delayed maybe 30 seconds.

Again, it seems like a combo of Pluto, Fubo, etc…but through one application.

ESPN app has turned into my last option. It is horribly optimized for mobile. The app is so freaking clunky and resource hungry.

YouTube TV has such better mobile app performance, and I cant imagine other streaming apps dont do better.

I use YouTube, Netflix, Amazon prime, and plex on my cell phone all the time. Not one of those slows my phone down like the ESPN app. Horrible design.

I just canceled my YouTube TV. It won't actually stop service for a couple weeks and I'm sure it will be fixed by then. Hoping that enough other people are doing the same and they see that this is not a negotiable service. Wish there was more that could be done. Maybe sling or Hulu will see this as an opportunity to jump in and provide more comprehensive services like YouTube TV.

Wut?

It's negotiable unless you are just good with ever increasing prices. You are willing to pay whatever Disney wants?

Also, Hulu is ESPN. I think some of yall don't understand who is who in this world.

I have noticed a lot of rogue streams on YouTube broadcasting ESPN and ABC games today. No need to go to shady streaming sites just search regular YouTube.

I wonder if they are intentionally taking their sweet time to remove these streams. Some had thousands of viewers so they have to notice.

Just saying it's not like when they drop telemundo and 95% of the subscribers are unaffected. I would rather they give Disney what they want and drop the 50 channels like pickleball tv, justice central, 3 hallmark channels. Somehow these disputes didn't seem to happen as much in the old days of cable.

Our lineup for sports right now:

ESPN Unlimited/Fox One Bundle ($40/month)
Paramount + ("Free" with Walmart + which was $49/year)
Peacock ("Free" with Comcast/Xfinity Internet)
Amazon Prime ("Free" with their service that allows my wife to send in a bunch of money so that I can break down hundreds of cardboard boxes a year)
Netflix and Apple TV+ ("Free" with T-Mobile)

We just dropped Hulu and Disney. We plan to pick them up again if they do their standard Black Friday discount.
We also have Starz for 99 cents/month and MGM+ for the same price.

So what is our most-watched app?
YouTube, which is free. I never understand the appeal that the kids have of watching others play video games.

We did the $50/year Walmart+ promotion for free grocery delivery. Better selection and cheaper prices than what Amazon offers.

This are not a reliable way to watch games. They get taken down all the time. I notice it more with the bigger games.

We have Walmart+ "free" through our credit card. Between this, it including paramount +, and the discount at gas stations we think it's better than Prime. Especially considering most stuff on prime is free delivery anyway. Will likely not renew prime next year.

Also, paramount + has to be the worst streaming app over espn. But theirs isn't necessarily app clunkiness issues. It's their idiotic decisions. They sold rights to some of their biggest shows so they are on different platforms. Their popular kids shows don't go on the app until the end of the season. Etc.

Ended up adding ESPN to our existing Hulu and Disney subscription and it was only $10 more for the month. Not as convenient as YouTube TV, but it got the job done on an interesting slate of games this Saturday.

Fubo has a free 5 day trial that I used last weekend. If this continues, I'll just use the sling day pass for $5-6 on Saturday.
