I have a son interested in applying to A&M Engineering (along with other STEM heavy schools). He is a high school junior and attends a smaller school without a robotics club. I know there are some summer camps he can attend, but I'm looking for advice on how he might get involved in robotics as an extracurricular activity that might help his application to college. Do any of you have recommendations along those lines?

Look to see if there is a VEX or First team near you.

My son did VEX in middle and elementary school and is now on a First team and loves it. His First team is based on area and contains kids from multiple High Schools. Hurry up, First season starts in Jan.

It's too late for FTC, their season is in full swing. But, you might try to look for a FRC club in your area, their competitions start in January (I think), and I don't think they are limited in the number of team members.

I can't really help beyond that.
