My son has a Switch currently. He's wanting to be able to play Madden '26 (confession, me too) so we are looking at upgrading the platform. I think we've ruled out Switch 2 and instead will leverage the Switch for legacy Nintendo products currently available and move to a PS5 or Xbox. Curious about thoughts on those from this forum in general, but more specifically...

He has a good buddy with a PS and a cousin with an Xbox. Both live close, and both have Madden. He sees them each with similar frequency. I've read that some controllers can be purchased that let you play one platform with the other platform's button configuration/layout (i.e., a PS controller to be used at his cousin's on Xbox). Is this accurate? Anybody here have good success stories about using them?

I worry it won't be as easy as it reads online to get it set up and to make the configurations work. Thanks ahead!

IIRC, there are some controllers that could work on both. First check that the controller is Xbox compatible as I believe Microsoft uses a proprietary wireless protocol and narrows down the options.

Yep 8bitdo is good option for multiple platforms but not sure they have a single that works on all the consoles.

Another option that works great is the mayflash adapters. I have one and use it to use my ps5 controller on my switch.

Look at both system compatibility and controller compatibility lists on eash item before buying.


I recommend the ps5 tbh, xbox consoles is a dying market plus the ps5 controller is so much better than xbox stock controller.

The ps5 controller also lets you put up to 4 device pairings into memory and swap between them with a button combo press. Xbox only keeps 2 in memory.
